My name is Kennie Rascoe, and I am a physics major. I care a lot about my future. My career goal is to work at NASA and explore outer space. I am majoring in physics because I find it interesting. I think there is a lot about the world that hasn’t been discovered yet that could be beneficial and positively impact our world. I want to become successful enough to have the financial stability to one day provide for a family of my own. My educational goal is to make sure I continue to work hard, keep my grades up, and get my work done on time. I decided to go to college not only because of the long-term financial gain but because college will help me to gain independence and financial stability. It will also bring me to meet new people and figure out who I am. When I was around five years old, I began playing the piano. I started teaching myself to play songs by ear because my family could not afford piano lessons. Playing the piano helped me take my mind off any problems that might have been going on at home. It also reduced the stress I was dealing with at school and helped me focus more. In my eleventh grade year of high school, I tried out for the varsity team and did not make the team. Not making the team discouraged many of the other girls and convinced them not to try out the following year. My coach was impressed by the perseverance I showed to become a better volleyball player. She decided to make me a part of the varsity volleyball team. Playing volleyball kept me active and in shape while also helping me to learn to take constructive criticism and make friends. It also helped me to become more open and to be myself. One thing I have noticed about myself is that I tend to overthink things. I overthink because I am passionate and care a lot about my future. I can turn something simple into something much more complicated. Since I overthink, I have more ideas and can conjure up other creative possibilities that most people do not think of. When there is a problem, I tend to be good at finding a solution. When things do not go the way I had hoped, I try my best not to get too down on myself and be more optimistic. I also try to be true to myself and not pretend to be someone I am not. I am Energetic, funny, hardworking, honest, caring, and creative.
