      John J Costonis Scholarship
This scholarship is such a generous scholarship. It would not only mean so much to me to receive it but to my mother as well. She deserves this scholarship. She is a single parent who has worked two jobs for as long as I can remember. She is a teacher and has taught me the importance of education and how you must work hard for what you want in life. We have had our fair share of hardships and getting this scholarship would ease some of those hardships. I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 7 and that comes with a lot of stress and financial burden as well. I have always been different then other kids, I have to take 8 plus shots a day and constantly monitor my blood sugar. I wake up at night to check my blood sugar and had to grow up fast because of this disease. I will not let it hold me back or define me and I love being a role model for newly diagnosed children. I grew up in Argyle and have attended school here since Pre-K at Hilltop. I have given back to the community I love and have put in over 150 hours of community service during high school, working two jobs and maintaining a 4.0. Giving back to the community I was raised in is so important. I have been at Argyle since I was in Pre-K and I love this community. Giving back has given me so much. It showed me how to be a leader, a role model, a mentor, a good citizen and so much more. From being an Ambassador for JDRF, to coaching many years in AYSA, to Meals on Wheels, volunteering and mentoring at At-risk schools in Denton ISD, Special Olympics, being in the Pals program, assisting the GOAL program; these all have brought me so much joy. This big scholarship would ease so much financial burden and stress. This would help us in more ways than I can articulate on paper. My brother is in college as well, so the financial burden of all these student loans for my mom, brother, and me is astronomical. My mom is the strongest person I know and has always told us to follow our dreams and has pushed us to pursue every one of them. Going to college is one of my dreams and my mom told me to not worry about the financial aspect of it, that she will figure it out, but I would love to contribute to helping her figure it out. This would be so beneficial to my family and I. Thank you for your time and for considering me for this amazing scholarship. I will be attending Oklahoma State University in the fall and plan to major in Nursing so I can help pediatric children and make a difference in their time of need.
      Karl L. Burnell Memorial Scholarship
I have had Type 1 diabetes since I was 7 years old. It has impacted every portion of my life, but I will not let it define me. I am a strong and independent woman who will not let diabetes slow me down! I am very active and athletic and mentor newly diagnosed children. I am also a Juvenile Diabetes Ambassador and donate hours and hours of volunteer service. My career goal is to either major in nursing (pediatric) or applied exercise science. I want to work in a children-centered focus, emphasizing on their well-being. I also want to be involved with newly diagnosed Type 1 children and ease their burden by showing them that anything is possible and to not be fearful.

Winners and Finalists
      Michael Rudometkin Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is such a generous scholarship. It would not only mean so much to me to receive it but to my mother as well. She deserves this scholarship. I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 7 and that comes with a lot of stress and financial burden as well. I have always been different then other kids, I have to take 8 plus shots a day and constantly monitor my blood sugar. I grew up in Argyle and have attended school here since Pre-K at Hilltop. Robert and Suzi DeGennaro Scholarship for Disabled Students
