Bio

Hi my name is Kelly and I will graduate as a Registered Nurse in December 2022. My life goal is to become a Pediatric Cardiology Nurse Practitioner and eventually teach this skill to students who are called to this field. I am most passionate about kids born with heart defects and volunteer year-round with a non-profit dedicated to this mission. In two years, I plan to become a nurse for this organization as well as work as a missionary wherever God places me. I have five years of clinical experience in all nursing specialties and am fully equipped to serve my community. My focus is to be a patient advocate and serve individuals during and after the most vulnerable moments of their life. Help me help others reach their full potential! https://www.linkedin.com/in/kelly-conrad/

My name is Kelly and I want to become a missionary so I can share the same Good News that lifted me out of my dark times through God's healing hand. I would like to serve wherever and however God leads me but, currently I feel called to be a missionary teacher and nurse. My love for Christ came after I contracted COVID-19 from a patient on Christmas Eve. I had long-term effects that lead to detrimental physical and mental health with a constant need to fix myself. Instead of relying on God, I placed my faith in myself and it wrecked me that as someone who heals others that I could not do this to myself. Someone approached me during this dark time and asked if I choose to serve man or serve God and I was so ashamed that I could not choose God. They asked me if I felt worthy of God's love and I could not say yes, however, this person reassured me that God wants to take these burdens from us and trust that He is the one who saves. In that moment, I kneeled on the ground and lifted my hands in exhaustion, repenting, and asking for forgiveness. I will never forget the peace that I felt and suddenly I was able to feel emotions, smell the air, and taste again. I realized that God is the ultimate healer and we are here to use the skills He gives us to glorify Him. Lord-willing, I will become a missionary nurse and teacher after I graduate and be able to spread the Good News with His healing hand. For now, I am in the process of fundraising for a service project to Central Europe where I plan to spread the word of God through conversational English to university students. My own age group is straying from God and it has been on my heart to touch the lives of those who have a high "power distance" from authority. I'm in a unique position to share with people who regard my position as culturally equal and maintain long-term friendships to see their story through to the end. You can learn more about my service project here: https://fcsmnstry.io/o66/tHLjc0PGyZ. Regardless of who wins, I am so blessed to hear that scholarships such as this exist for aspiring missionaries and I am praying for everyone who applies. May God let us end this race well. Thank you for the opportunity to share my story!
