    Elevate Women in Technology Scholarship
What does one use to get from point A to point B? What is the most overlooked part of the human body? The human foot is responsible for numerous daily tasks one must take on everyday. If one’s feet are in pain, he or she will face difficulties and more strain than if he or she were not in pain. The Aetrex Foot Scanner shows gait experts what exactly is going on within people’s feet. The Aetrex Foot Scanner displays exact pressure points, and how one walks. It also gives a 3-dimensional model of one’s feet. Overall, this invention makes numerous lives better. I am an employee at a specialty shoe store, and I love being able to help customers with the Aetrex Foot Scanner. I am able to use this technology to better fit a customer. I also love being able to show my customers what exactly I see when watching them walk with the Aetrex Foot Scanner. This technology helps gait analyzers, like me, relieve people of pain. Whether one realizes it or not, one’s shoe or insole type can change one’s life. Technology like the Aetrex Foot Scanner improves lives, and I am beyond appreciative of the innovative people who were behind the technology. Those human beings inspire me to create technology to further help people in pain. I want to pursue a career in Biomedical Engineering to further advances in medical technology. I want to help as many people as I can while creating and inventing technology. The perfect mixture of the two activities would be Biomedical Engineering. If it was not for the Aetrex Foot Scanner I would have never been aspired to pursue a career in technology, but now I am overwhelmingly motivated to become a biomedical engineer. All in all, the Aetrex Foot Scanner has improved the lives of numerous people. It helps pinpoint what is going on within a person’s feet, and displays 3-dimensional models of the foot to help gait analyzers see what type of shoe or insole would benefit a customer the best. The Aetrex Foot Scanner makes the world a better place because it helps relieve pain from human’s most prominent form of transportation - the feet. One day I hope to improve the lives of many by creating an innovation like the Aetrex Foot Scanner, and through a college education, I believe I can do it.

Like a chihuahua, she is feisty. Like a fox, she is slightly devious. However, she does have a sweet side to her. She is as warm as the Texan sun. She loves to help others. Perhaps it makes her feel like she has a purpose. She may have some imbalances in her mind, but that does not stop her from achieving her goals. She is determined to crush her goals. She is aware it might take a lot of effort and an antidepressant or two to accomplish her dreams, but it does not matter to her. All Keely Franco wants is to help those who cannot stand up for themselves.
Andrew Perez Mental Illness/Suicidal Awareness Education Scholarship
If I could be a different person, I would. A few short months ago this was my mindset. I did not know it yet, but my Bipolar Depression, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder were getting out of hand. I had horrible thoughts, and I had unhealthy coping mechanisms. For example, I would binge eat, drive recklessly, have harsh arguments with family members, and lay on the floor for hours on end. My mental health was so horrendous my mom took me to the doctor. I was told that chemical imbalances in my brain were the culprit for most of my struggles at the time. The doctor prescribed me the medications Zoloft, and Wellbutrin. After two weeks I was a changed person. I woke up not wanting it to be time for bed again. I no longer drove recklessly. I regained healthy eating habits. Most importantly, I did not argue with my family. I was living a life worth living. I am forever grateful for my mom taking the time to notice how I was struggling with my mental health. I am also very appreciative of the doctor who diagnosed me, and prescribed me the proper medications. I honestly do not think I would have attempted to attend college without these wonderful people. When my mental health was at an all time low, I definitely did not plan to attend college. I did not even plan to graduate high school. I had no aspirations in life, but when I got put on my antidepressants and mood-stabilizers I wanted to do something with my life. I wanted to help people, and make my family proud. Currently, I want to pursue a career in the law, and social justice field. I want to give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. I am very passionate about immigration as well. I want to fight for immigration rights, and maybe become an immigration lawyer. These people have very few advocates who can speak English for them, and fight in the court of law for their rights. My grandfather was an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. He now is a legal citizen of the United States, but he immigrated when he was 14 years old. He is now 89 years old, times were different. The border was not as secure as it is now. My grandfather says that it was very difficult back then to get over here, and he cannot imagine how dangerous it must be now to get to the United States now. I look up to my grandfather more than anyone else in this world. He is the reason why my goal is to be an immigration lawyer. I want to help people who are only wanting a better life. They deserve a chance to succeed and live a life worth living. Lastly, my loved ones would be so proud of me for helping others. I would make my mom so happy because I know all she wants for me is to live my best life. All in all, I am one who is extremely passionate about immigration. Not too long ago I had nothing to work toward because I only cared about the next time I could eat or sleep. My mental health issues caused me to have a tragic lifestyle, but my amazing mother pulled me out of the rut I was in. Now I want to attend college, and become an immigration lawyer to help others live out their best life.
    Boosting Women in STEM Scholarship
Covid-19, a destructive virus, made life different to say the least. Watching movies and seeing crowds without a mask on just feels uncomfortable to me. The many unsanitary things society including myself used to partake in absolutely disgusts me now. I no longer share a drink with my friends, or go out of my house nearly as much as I once did. Everything has changed. Stem occupations typically are “essential” jobs. People like doctors, scientists, and engineers still have to work no matter the circumstances. Especially the medical field is working as hard as possible. These scientists are going to be the reason why life will eventually get back to normal. The vaccines created by those scientists. All in all, stem occupations will and are currently making it easier to thrive and return to normal in this unusual time.
