Beaming Health Autism Post-Secondary Scholarship
Even though I am on the autism spectrum, I still wish to pursue a way to help others. I wish to help people, children and adults, to understand not just autism but all other mental disorders as well. One of my goals is to help those who have disabilities and disorders find a way to express themselves through any non harmful form possible, as well as help them find a way to understand why they are the way they are.
To do this I will need to study, research and learn ways to identify and help treat those who ask for my services. I will need to find as many safe ways of self-expression to help the patient as possible. Both in their capabilities on what they can do and what can keep their attention, all while trying to keep them from back-stepping in their progress and getting it in the way of their life, both personal and public.
A secondary education will help me find a way to help others, but will also show me in a public setting how people interact, with both superiors and other students. That itself will help me understand how people interact with each other. It will also provide me with proper lessons on the psychology and how the body and mind function together.
I also hope to be able to get in a few different art classes, so I have a different assortment of crafts and skills to teach my patients as a way to stem and express themselves as previously stated. I with to guide and assist others through my studies and things i have learned. These studies will help me better understand why people behave and function the way they do.
It will be a bit simpler to show people how to craft in ways that will not get in the way of their day to day life, as I have done similar things in the past, self-teaching things so that I have things to do myself to keep calm and help myself focus on my current classes. I have taught myself how to do the following: Crochet, knit, loom, paint with both acrylic and water colors, sketch and draw finished pieces, bake, sew, wood carve and so forth. I have taken the time to teach myself how to do all these things, so I can both focus myself and teach others how to do it so that I may focus.
But different people find different things interesting, and with a secondary education I hope to expand my capabilities in ways to help others through safe means have a way to express themselves. I will need to find a way to balance both art classes and psychology classes. I will also need to get in my basic classes. A secondary education will help me learn and grow in myself and give me a way to help others grow to have safe and secure ways to go through the struggles of life.
I wish to continue to grow in myself with a higher education, and learn to water the flowers of life so that others may grow as well. I simply wish to help others with my life time. With all this said I wish that you may help me achieve my goals and allow me the means to help others through their struggles with both their mental health and their social life. I truly wish to help others by any means necessary, and one of the best ways to do this that I know of is to become a behavioral therapist.
