      Hulede Collegiate Golf Scholarship
My name is Kci Lindskog, I am a student athlete at Texas Southern University playing the sport golf and studying sports management with a concentration in business. I am currently a rising senior, serving as TSU Men's golf captain, with one more year of eligibility left to play NCAA Division I golf. I aspire to pursue a career in professional golf and make it to the highest level of competition there is. As an underrepresented golfer, it is important for me to carry this torch not only for myself and my family, but also for others that look like me who do not get the "best opportunity" in life to make their dreams a reality especially in the realm golf. Breaking down barriers of underrepresentation in golf, in my opinion, isn't just about diversifying the sport but it is about expanding opportunities and embracing the richness of talent that may have been under-looked. Despite being very active in my personal pursuit of professional golf and the duties I am obliged to in TSU Men's golf, I make certain that I stay active as a student of life and participate in other activities and organizations outside of golf that focus around exploring interests in networking, growth, & advocacy for career advancement. Some of the things and organizations I am a part of include the African Student Association (ASA), Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), and I participate in TSU Royal Court events and the like to be a guest speaker. In these different organizations I am tasked with different roles and have a different level of involvement in each and everyone of them. I find doing these things important because as a Junior in college, I began to realize how close and fast approaching the "real world" is and I've found it vital to move knowledge around the young adults in my community to provide us with the understanding and provisions needed to help build a future based on stability and progression. If I do not have time to participate In any of these extracurricular activities it would typically be due to time constraints from my school work or golf schedule. However, I recognize the value of extracurricular involvement in fostering personal growth, building connections, and contributing to the community, and I'm always open to exploring new opportunities for involvement when time allows. Contrary to most people attending University, I was not so fond of the idea of furthering my studies due to my highschool experience of how education was. I grew up on a UK based curriculum called Cambridge studies which only had a focus and emphasis on engineering, medical, and business studies, in which I had minimal interest in apart from business studies. So the only thing that made me want to come to the US and pursue my education at the time was because of the possibility of a NCAA D1 collegiate career. The decision of coming to college not only gave me access to furthering my golf career but also revitalized my interest in schooling. As per my introduction, I am currently studying sports management with a concentration in business which is something I have found passion in due to the versatility of how education is here at Texas Southern University. I chose this major because it aligns with the goals and career I will engraph myself in the coming years through golf. In the grand tapestry of life, communities serve as vibrant threads weaving together its own unique fabric amongst other communities that do the same thing, that is why terms like "cultures" and "norms" exist within them. Over time I have found that whether you like it or not, you will be a part of a community and that it is your job and moral obligation to be a voice or thread that propagates and advocates for productivity & growth to allow your environment to encourage you to strive for the good, the true, and the beautiful. My giving to the community while in college is twofold, encompassing direct service and systematic advocacy efforts. Through direct service, it allows me to provide tangible support to individuals or groups by participating in things like serving in food banks, volunteering at the first tee, and fundraising events. In addition to this, I am deeply interested in being able to set up a systematic and sustainable change in certain parts of the community around me by recognizing issues that certain groups of people face within the community and addressing them in a way that is impactful, which is why I join organizations like ASA and SAAC that have influence and recognition for change among groups of peoples in the community. As for giving post college, I aspire to provide mentorship and financial help to people, groups, and institutions whenever the capacity for me enables me to do so due to my interest in young adults as I believe they are they driving force of how the community will advance and what standards they will uphold. Receiving the Hulede Collegiate Golf scholarship would profoundly impact my collegiate experience by providing not only vital financial support but also invaluable mentorship crucial for my development as a collegiate golfer and as an individual. Financially, this scholarship would alleviate the burden of tuition costs and other expenses which include housing and even tournament fees, allowing me to focus more wholeheartedly on my academic and athletic pursuits without the added stress of financial constraints. Moreover, the mentorship aspect of the scholarship would offer guidance, advice, and encouragement from experienced professionals in the golfing community, helping me hone my skills, navigate the challenges of collegiate athletics, and set ambitious yet achievable goals for both my athletic and academic endeavors. The support provided by the scholarship would not only enhance my performance on the golf course but also enrich my overall collegiate experience, empowering me to make the most of the opportunities available to me and to thrive both as a student and as an athlete.

My name is Kci Lindskog and I am a proud golf student-athlete at Thee Illustrious Texas Southern University. I am a rising junior majoring in sports management with a business focus. I consider myself quite avid to participate in community service hours for my classes, the African Student Association, and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. These services come in the form of car washes, event organizing, community reach outs, Houston food bank services, etc. Some other things that we are big on are supporting other sports by coming out and supporting their games. I find it to be my duty when I graduate to offer mentorship to aspiring young golfers or student-athletes in my community. As an aspiring touring professional getting into the NCAA D1 spotlight was vital in this journey I am currently undergoing, and I fully understand what it is like to have nobody in my community come from this stage to show me the proper steps in achieving this milestone. I also intend to engage in community outreach programs such as the first tee, where I will be interning this summer. This involvement helps promote the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship to the next generation. I find this effective in my contribution to the community because of the effectiveness of this organization in creating opportunities for groups of people who may not have access to them. Another way I see myself contributing to my community is through Alumni engagement which will allow me to stay connected with Texas Southern University by participating in alumni events, fundraisers, and networking opportunities, supporting the university's mission, connecting with fellow alumni, and helping create opportunities for future student-athletes and those to come after them. College is a pivotal point in my life where I need to make the most of my "shelter" from the real world and maximize the opportunity to create an abundance of opportunities for myself coming out of it. I plan on using college to delve into academic subjects of interest and pursue intellectual growth which involves setting academic goals, seeking research opportunities, and aiming for academic honors. I also see that college is a time to develop myself as a golf player in achieving more athletic awards and goals to be a touring professional along with developing a wide range of skills that may involve joining organizations related to my interests, participating in extracurricular activities, honing leadership skills, and seeking out internships or part-time jobs to gain practical experience. Finally, I've realized the power and importance of creating networks and forming connections with fellow students, student-athletes, professors, alumni, and professionals in your field of interest. Building a strong network can lead to valuable opportunities and mentorship. The significance of receiving financial aid cannot be overstated, and I wanted to convey just how much it means to me. Receiving this scholarship would not only alleviate the financial burden of pursuing my education but would also open doors to endless possibilities. It would provide me with the resources and support necessary to fully immerse myself in my studies, my golf, and my overall goals. It would enable me to focus on my academic pursuits without the constant worry of financial constraints, allowing me to reach my fullest potential. Beyond the financial aspect, this scholarship holds a profound symbolic value to me. It signifies recognition and validation of my hard work, dedication, and the aspirations I hold for my future. It is a reminder that my dreams and ambitions are valued and that I have the potential to make a meaningful impact on myself and my community.
