Jerzee Foundation Scholarship
My goal is to have a career in dancing either as a professional dancer or as a dance teacher.
Dance is something that I have always been good at, and I thoroughly enjoy it. It gives me a
chance to express my feelings or thoughts with my body and with movements. Dance is about music, and feelins and letting everything flow freely without having to worry about anything. My favorite styles are Hip-Hop and Jazz because both are similar to my personality; outgoing and sophisticated! I get a warm feeling from just being in the moment right then and there, no matter what my age, size, shape, or skin color a chance in the spotlight is such a joy. Dancing provides me a chance to break out of my shell without any fear that may be locked up inside my body. Dance is also a great form of exercise, both physically and mentally. Anytime I feel stressed or anxious, dancing allows me to center myself. I have been dancing since I was a little girl. Earlier in life I participated in other activities like soccer, track and even basketball, but dance is where I discovered my passion. As a dance teacher, I could pass on to others what has been passed on to me by great teachers, professionals, and role models throughout the course of my life. I get to share my love of dance with kids and help them love dance.
I also have a to be dream pediatric nurse, Both my grandmother and great grandmother were both nurses, my grandmother died when I was 5 years old, and I was very close to her. My grandmother had a kind and caring personality, and no
surprise she chose nursing as her career. Nurses are kind and caring and make patients feel safe and loved, just like my grandmother made me feel. I plan to follow in her footsteps. By futhering my education in nursing, I can help people get the necessary healthcare they may need. My
plan is to be a pediatric nurse. When I was little, I would pretend my dolls were patients and hook them up to IVs or bandage their limbs! As a pediatric nurse, I would help new families during the birthing process as they begin their lives as parents, help calm the fears of a scared little kid preparing to get their shots and provide healthcare education to keep patients well.
There are a number of lab fees that are associated with a degree in Nursing/Dance, and I would
use the funds from this scholarship to help pay for those fees in addition to textbooks, room and board fees. Receiving this scholarship will help me take the financial burden off of my parents. We would not have to take out student/parent loans that will take years to pay back. College costs are continuing to rise making it difficult to afford college without putting my family in additional financial hardship.

I am a caring, hardworking, fun-filled, energetic young lady who enjoys working within her
community. I’ve been an active Girl Scout for the past 13 years, where I’ve participated and led events such as, feeding the homeless, nursing home visits, food drives, volunteering at my local food banks and packing shoeboxes for kids around the world.
Every year for the past 8 years, I used the proceeds from Girl Scout cookies sales to prepare and serve dinner to the unhoused. The local church would house women for the night during the winter months. My troop and I would brainstorm on a meal including dessert, that would be plentiful and delicious. I would sit and talk with the women during dinner (only if they were willing) to make them feel comfortable and loved. I found the women to be very kind and appreciative of the kindness shown to them. I learned that unhoused people were no different from me, except they didn't have a permanent address.
During the Christmas holidays, I would help my Girl Scout Troop organize Christmas caroling for all Girl Scouts in our area at our local nursing home. My fellow Scouts and I loved walking around the nursing home going room to room, singing and spreading joy and cheer to the residents and the staff. We would alway ask the resident's permission before going into their room, knowing that not everyone wanted to participate. I sometimes stayed behind to talk with some of the residents, they would always ask about the many patches on my Girl Scout vest. After all the girls were done with caroling, my troop would serve cookies, hot chocolate and warm apple cider to all the participants to commemorate the season.
There was a new nursing facility that opened in the community, I realized there were many nursing home residents that do not receive visitors often. For Valentine's Day, I decided to deliver Valentine's cards and small goodie bags to the residents and staff to remind them that they are loved and someone cares about them. I also chose to support the residents during Christmas, by participating in their Angel Tree program. I would select three "Angels" from the Christmas tree at the facility and purchase gifts and deliver them to the residents. It warms my heart to show care for others, which I feel enhances my life and their life.
Another one of my favorite ways to provide an impact in the community is packing shoeboxes for children around the world for Samaritan's Purse' Operation Christmas. Some of the kids lack simple things such as toothbrushes, socks, shoes and toys, and these are some of the key items that are included in the shoeboxes. Most of the children receiving the shoesboxes are from outside of the United States and countries affected by poverty, war, food shortage, etc. The children who receive the boxes are not just receiving a shoebox, but a gift of love and hope.

I love to dance and have been competitively dancing for 13 years. Dance is something that I have always had a passion for, and I thoroughly enjoy it. Dancing encourages self-confidence and positive self-esteem, it gives me the courage to be be my true authentic self. Dancing gives me a chance to express my feelings or words with my body and with movements. Dance is also a great form of exercise, both physically and mentally. Anytime I feel stressed or anxious, dancing allows me to center myself. Dancing allows me to bring joy to myself and others in the world.
Both my grandmother and great grandmother were both nurses, my grandmother died when I was
5 years old, and I was very close to her. My grandmother had a kind and caring personality, and it's no surprise she chose nursing as her career. Nurses are kind and caring and make patients feel safe and loved, just like my grandmother made me feel. I plan to follow in her footsteps.
My goal is to attend Fayetteville State University and Major in Nursing and Minor in Dance. By
furthering my education in nursing, I can help people in my community get the necessary healthcare they may need. My plan is to be a pediatric nurse.
I love giving back to my community. I’ve been an active Girl Scout for the past 13 years, where I’ve participated in events such as, feeding the homeless, nursing home visits, food drives, volunteering at my local food banks and packing shoeboxes for kids around the world. Participating in Girl Scouts has taught me leadership skills, public speaking skills, customer service and sales and marketing skills.
I plan to continue making a positive impact on the world by continuing to incorporate community service in my future. By being a Girl Scout Volunteer, I can use my nursing skills to train girls in CPR, or volunteer as the nurse at camp. I would also like to offer my dancing skill to those in underserved communities. Oftentimes, families in these communities are not
exposed to artistic options like dance due to financial constraints. I would love to offer a low-cost
option so that every child can experience the joy of dance.

My dream is to have a career in dancing either as a professional dancer or as a dance teacher. As a professional dancer, I would be able to continue doing what I enjoy and earn an income at the same time. I could travel to different cities around the world to meet new people and showcase my talents. As a dance teacher, I could pass on to others what has been passed on to me by great teachers, professionals, and role models throughout the course of my life. I get to share my love of dance with kids and help them love dance.
Since I enjoy giving back to my community, I would love the opportunity to share my passion with other kids in under-served areas. Sometimes these areas lack arts programs that help kids express themselves and experience the love of dance.
