Honestly, I would’ve never imagined someone like me could ever have the courage to get up on a stage in front of over thirteen classes and perform a poem I memorized in two days. Well I didn’t! In all realness I was unaware of the circumstances I put myself into being that this was the first poem contest at my school. I wanted to redeem myself because when I was a little girl I chickened out of a poem contest. I honestly didn’t realize the circumstances until 30 minutes before when my principal told me. “ Oh yeah, you’re going second and there are thirteen classes watching.” Before my performance my heart was beating so hard I though I would have a heart attack and die. But I did it and honestly I was very blessed that I conquered my fear -to an extent- and lived to tell the tale.

I am a determined person who always shows my best efforts. The best things in life occur when hard work is initiated. That is why I am very motivated and grateful to have the opportunity to apply for this and many more scholarships in pursuing financial stability through college. I will do whatever it takes to succeed. However, in addition to my future pursuits, I will always assist my peers and the adults in my life to nurture the seeds of peace and prosperity in their daily life if they are willing to hear my concerns.
In addition, I am an active member of the Health Information Project, where I formally bring essential health and well-being information to my peers. This club allows me to officially mentor my peers in the pursuit of getting them information that will better their present and future lives. When I began attending South Broward high school, I learned of the lack of intelligence among my peers in their social well-being and educational aspects of their life. Many of my peers want to continue their education but need guidance. I use my knowledge intending to nurture the possibility of success among them. I also realize that throughout my life, I will meet many lost people who require advice, whether on the path to finding peace or their idea of economic success.
Furthermore, after experiencing domestic abuse and foster care, I have learned that cleaning up the beach and wearing sustainable clothing is essential; however, pursuing peace should be the root of it all. Once peace is pursued, the seeds of mindfulness, compassion and mutual respect will grow, while the weeds of judgment, greed, and condemnation will begin to diminish. I believe in this wholeheartedly, and I see myself mentoring my peers and adolescents in the future. Joining an organization such as "Big Brothers Big Sisters" is a prime example of the steps I will initiate to help others. On the path toward my success, I want to pursue dentistry.
In conclusion, throughout college and the rest of my life, I want to travel the world to find holistic ways to heal brain disorders and the body. Once I become knowledgeable, I will bring the knowledge back to my future mentees and my loved ones in the pursuit of helping them water the seeds of peace and success and heal their minds and bodies.
Thank you for your meaningful consideration.
