FinalistBio
Katrice Williams is first-generation college student and the Senior Criminal Justice Fellow at a local foundation. She has led their criminal justice grantmaking strategy, while attending law school at Cleveland State University in the evenings and single-handedly raising a child.
She previously served as a Program Officer with the Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry, a county government agency coordinating reintegration services for currently and formerly incarcerated individuals. In her former capacity, she oversaw the agency's communications, policy, advocacy, and community education efforts on record sealing. Prior to joining the Office for Reentry, she was a policy associate with the ACLU of Ohio, where she focused on mass incarceration, criminal legal reform and voting rights for individuals with criminal convictions. The jail voting toolkit she published is still being used in Ohio today.
Katrice received a dual master’s degree in Social Administration and Nonprofit Organization from Case Western Reserve University, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Stanford University, California. While in college, she served as a program coordinator for FORGE, a former international nonprofit agency that worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Mwange Refugee Camp, Zambia, and she led women's rights and women's empowerment workshops. Apart from her work with FORGE, she has completed other humanitarian projects in China and South Africa. Her dream is to be a trial attorney after sitting for the Ohio bar exam in July 2023.
