I am currently enrolled full-time to become a surgical technologist. I also work full-time, so I’m able to pay for college. I find it frustrating that once you have an undergraduate degree you’re no longer able to apply for grants, funding, pr loans from the government or any other type of federal aid.
I have overcame obstacles I’d never thought possible. As a I’ve choose to better myself, for me and my daughter.
Taking a chance after being out of school for 15 years is very scary. I embrace this opportunity though and I’m grateful I am able to.

“ We believe that the sooner we face our problems within our society, in everyday living, just that much faster do we become acceptable, responsible, and productive members of that society.” - NA reading “Hoes does it work”?
During my addiction I was selfish, a liar, thief, and would do whatever it took to get my next fix. I thought I was only harming myself.
Since surrendering I’ve been blessed in many ways. I have my daughter back in my life and she has a mom that shes always deserved. I’ve made amends with family and friends. I’ve earned their trust back and restored the faith they had in me. I’m also back in school, doing what I love to do.
Even though I have a long way to go, i do have the basic needs, food, water, and shelter. I also have maintained a job for 2 and a half years, bought a car, and am self sufficient.
It’s an incredible, priceless feeling knowing I’ve accomplished this own my own. God’s given me another chance in life through recovery. Everyday I wake up full of gratitude, appreciation for life, selfless, and humble. I now and forever strive to keep recovery #1. Without it, I’ll lose it all over again. I never want to feel that hopeless, lonely feeling I had before recovery.
