I am the Vice-President of the Society of Advancing Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science Chapter, a member of CO-WY AMP, a recipient of the DACA & Undocumented Student Health Careers Opportunity Program (DUHOP) and a member of the Women in Science and Engineering organization. In addition, with the help of the Puksta foundation, I will be able working on a project to advance underrepresented and underserved students in higher education as a way to give back to my community. Lastly, I am research assistant in a biochemistry lab where I will be working with Dr. Ragan. The research consists of using cells grown in culture from fruit flies to investigate iron uptake mechanisms in insects, which may lead to a better understanding of iron uptake in humans as well.
