In my life I experienced many self esteem issues, I never felt beautiful or sure of myself .The one thing that really helped me get through my hardest times was my growing interest in cosmetology, doing makeup or my nails helped me come to love myself so much more. Using makeup to enhance my features made me so happy in my own skin and feel the best about my face, which before I resented and hated looking at. I always hated seeing pictures of myself or even my own reflection, but using cosmetics to enhance my features made me feel so beautiful. I began to feel thankful for the life I was given that is so wonderful, and I thank God for giving me life and for guiding me along, even when I thought it was impossible and as if I should give up. My journey of self discovery is why I would love to pursue cosmetology, I want to give others those same feelings I felt and make them feel beautiful and happy in their skin. I would be beyond grateful to receive this scholarship, which would help me in pursuing this wonderful career. Thank you for this opportunity!

Growing up I was always anxious and reserved. When I was 8 I suffered from various kinds of abuse, causing me to develop severe anxiety and depression. School was never easy either, with ADHD distracting me from learning and severe anxiety with test taking. I began to resent myself and those around me, constantly hurting myself and hurting the feelings of those I loved. For over 8 years I suffered every day, I could not talk to people or carry out daily life without having a panic attack. Due to the abuse I endured I would never trust others in fear it would happen again. I even landed in the hospital multiple times as a result of panic attacks. I believed my life would never get better, I would never trust another person and I would be better off if I was not here. If I could go back, I would tell myself that isn't true, though so many people say "It gets better" and you never believe them, it truly does. Not only did I suffer, but my family did too, I can only imagine how much it took to take care of me and to even love me, but I love them and appreciate both them and my friends for sticking by my side. Getting on the right meds helped me so much, I had gone through 2 different medications before, that made me aggressive and angry, they weren't right for me, and my friends have now told me I was rude back then but they don't blame me, because I was struggling, and I appreciate them so much for loving me during my good and my bad, and I try my best every day to be a better person than I was yesterday, and to make it up to them. My most meaningful achievement has been learning to love myself through makeup and skincare. It might seem simple, but this journey has changed my life. It all started when I was feeling unsure about myself. Like many teenagers, I struggled with self-esteem and confidence. I often compared myself to others and felt like I did not measure up. This all began to change when I discovered the world of makeup and skincare. At first, makeup was just a way to cover up what I did not like about myself. But as I learned more about it, I realized it could be so much more. I started watching tutorials and practicing different techniques. I learned how to highlight my favorite features and express myself through colors and styles. Gradually, makeup became a form of self-care rather than a mask. I began to see it as a way to enhance my natural beauty and celebrate who I am. Skincare was another important part of this journey. Taking the time to care for my skin taught me to appreciate myself. I learned about different products and routines, and I began to understand the importance of taking care of my body. This routine became a ritual that helped me feel grounded and confident. It was a way of telling myself that I am worth the effort. This transformation in how I saw myself was not just about appearance. It was about feeling good in my own skin and being confident in who I am. As I grew more confident, I wanted to share this feeling with others. I realized that I wanted to help people find their own beauty and feel good about themselves, just like I did. This is why I am drawn to the beauty industry and why I want to study cosmetology. I want to help others discover the power of makeup and skincare. I want to show them that beauty is not about changing who you are, but about celebrating it. I believe that everyone deserves to feel confident and beautiful, and I want to be the person who helps them get there. In the future, I hope to work as a cosmetologist, where I can make a difference in people's lives every day. I want to create a welcoming and supportive space where people can explore their own beauty. I want to use the skills I learn in school to help others find the confidence that I found. I am excited about the possibilities that a career in beauty offers. It is a field that is always changing and growing, and there is always something new to learn. I am eager to continue learning and improving my skills so that I can provide the best service to my clients. The beauty industry is about more than just looks. All my life I had been uninterested in anything to do with cosmetics, I believed it was too girly and too popular and I wanted to be different from others. Struggling with my self esteem for years, I suddenly found an interest in beauty and cosmetology in 2022, I began caring for my looks, washing my face and using all the newest treatments and makeup and anything I could get my hands on, and I had never felt better before. I felt so confident and happy with my looks when before I couldn't stand looking in the mirror, I was so shocked that something so easy and enjoyable to me could make me feel so good about myself. That's when I realized I wanted to make this my career. As I developed this passion, I found not only confidence but also a love of beauty. I loved discovering new ways to do my makeup or skincare or finding new products to use. Finally after so many years of hating my looks I felt happy and confident when I looked at myself and I began taking and posting countless pictures of myself, when before I would refuse to even be near a camera. My journey has taught me that beauty is not only about looks, but making yourself happy and confident in your own skin. My goal in the future is to create a comfortable environment for my clients to explore themselves and work towards becoming comfortable in their bodies as well, as everyone deserves to love themselves and care for themselves. I want to share the comfort and joy I found in cosmetics with the world and help other beautiful women find their confidence and their beauty within. Through my education I hope to gain hands on experience and develop my skills to be able to put my abilities to use and make my clients feel happy with their service and find new confidence in their new looks. I believe everyone should feel confident and happy in their own skin, and I am committed to making a positive impact in their lives and create a relationship with my clients so they feel good about their selves and return consistently to keep up their services. I am so excited to embark on this journey and help people feel confident in themselves, especially if they never had before, I aim to share the same beauty and joy I find in cosmetics, with the rest of the world, and help them find their beauty and self worth, just as I did.
