Not many people have their rib bone as their jaw bone, do they? Well, I am one of those many people. At 5 years old, I had major jaw surgery because I had a benign tumor on my left jaw bone. Having my rib bone as my jawbone makes me feel unique and different from others, but you could never tell I had jaw surgery. I have always been in and out of hospitals because of this. I had many follow-ups, more surgeries and many appointments because of my jaw. Ever since my jaw surgery and being in the hospital, I knew the medical field was what I wanted to pursue in my career. I watched and learned a lot of things from being in the hospital all the time. Everyone I have met in the medical field is caring toward their patients and willing to help them no matter what. I have always wanted to be just like them ever since I was little. I love taking care of people and helping them when they need it. I want to be the one to help others and provide them with the care they need. With that being said I have been set on a career in nursing for a long time now. I believe I could make a positive impact on the world with my career in sciences because I am going to college for my BSN. In high school, I have always loved biology and chemistry. Loving these subjects, made sense why I wanted to go into the medical field. Working in the medical field I have to be interested and have a passion for the career. I feel I can be another person in the medical field that loves their job and wants to help others. I want to be that person where I can be the one to give others the help they need or take care of them. With being in and out of the hospital I have seen many healthcare workers doing what I want to do. Someone who inspired my decision for going into the medical field was my mom. Ever since I was little she has worked in the medical field. I have watched her grow her love and support towards the medical field. I have always dreamed of following in her footsteps. She has the passion for the medical field I want to have. Watching her take care of people and help others changed my perspective of what I wanted to do in my future because I never wanted to go into the medical field until my mom showed me what a great career it was. I have been set on my career for years now and I am so excited to begin my career in nursing this fall.
