Bold Empathy Scholarship
When one understands the concept of empathy, they understand that it is a process of showing others that you understand and care about their feelings and emotions. Being empathetic requires one to be cognitive and compassionate of others and how they feel. Several circumstances were presented to me where I had to show empathy. For example, being the son of a father who suffers from mental illness and also a current drug abuser, at a young age I had to watch my dad go through various changes. The judgment and hate that stemmed from the rest of my family toward him didn’t make situations any better. Although the emotional absence of my father did sometimes affect me in a negative way, I would always put my feelings aside and tend to him. I always tried to understand the deeper reasoning behind the predicament he is currently facing. Being around people who constantly down him because they felt as if he should’ve been there for me, I’m proud to say that in spite of all that I chose a different route and loved my dad unconditionally no matter the circumstance and always kept the mindset that if he knew better he would do better. This helped me to always be aware of his feelings and what he was going through which aided me in how to care for him the proper way.
Social Change Fund United Scholarship
From someone who has family history of mental Illness and low income would like to share that what’s killing us in the black community is the lack love ,unity ,and discipline being kind and considerate. What I could bring to help the black community is fairly simple just seeing how my neighbor is doing being compassionate for others feelings and communicating , spreading to my community togetherness and together we all can make a change . As I get close to what I want to be in life I’ve realized it want to make a change for myself but also for my community. How Im going to do that is by getting my bachelors degree in architectural engineering . Opening mental health centers thats will provide councilors , therapist , and doctors not meds or drugs .the pint an purpose is going and hitting the root of the problem of the black and brown community, building low income gated community’s . So my people can live safe , there will be no HOA and will be affordable homes so my people can sit on equity from a home .
perpetual money and us blacks need more home owners and a place we can have forever and affordable as well that we can call our home . Setting up programs for single mothers , and the reason I praise the single mothers a lot is because I have one and I see how hard she works to put food on our table .This is a big struggle aside form social injustice . Encourage organization and inclusiveness spread that penitentiary chances is never a way and set high standards and goals that we will achieve. By helping the black and brown community , well as I like to say the African Americans and Hispanics. Introducing more things like getting hard working jobs to implement responsibility and discipline and things like joining the police force and more all black firefighters adding positivity and influence more black to vote and take charge .
I would benefit from this scholarship because I know what my community needs , especially from it coming from someone who lives and see the everyday life of the low income . What we need more and better options than what we receive . It’s only a coterie of people in my community that’s willing to help and make a change to better the future for us and the impact that we will have can and will be huge . the rest no doubt will see the positive and the good we have done they would want to step in and help make a change . Thank you for giving someone like the opportunity to express the challenges and changes we have in the colored community .
