It has been such a strange experience, just a teenager and blessed guy in a new country with no idea how to speak English but with a great attitude to learn new things. I just remember I was in Mexico right before covid, just a 15-16 years old boy with no idea what's happening in his life. I just remember my parents telling me, “We are broke, Mama has a disease we just can’t support you no more”, and with a tear in his eye he told me “We are going to send you to America with your uncle and Aunt”. I wasn’t expecting those words, but it was a process. Once I got here it was good, living with my aunt. She always treated me as her son, but that isn’t feeling like home, something was and is missing, my parents. After 5-6 months I realized I went into depression, I gained a lot of weight, I was over 380 pounds, and when I realized I thought it was too late, but it wasn’t so I decided to finally change my life at all, I started a diet and a lot of workouts. After a year now I weigh 220 pounds. I’m still without my parents but I know they are good and proud with all the things I have done, not only for all the weight that I lost, but also my academic progress. Since day one I proved to myself that there’s no impossible thing because if you can dream it, you can do it. I had great grades since day one, two invitations to National Honors Society, I was an ESOL student and since semester one they wanted to kick me out because thank God I learned the language so fast. Since my Parents, most of my family, friends are “gone” they are still here with me, and I know I will see them soon. I haven’t seen my parents in a long time. I am just hoping to go to college to have a better future and be the person who I want to be and give my parents that degree that they deserve and want to see. I am just a dreamer who dreams in a future where all the sadness is gone and I am living with the people that I love, with no borders, no walls and no separations. For my future, I really hope to become a programmer in Engineering and have my company later on, and of course be next to my parents agian.

Chris Jackson Computer Science Education Scholarship
I got interested when I was a child I used to go through computers and do things like codes and go to youtube and learn how to create a new page, even disarming the computer and trying to figure out how to rearm again and lots to things that has to be with computers. My dream goal would be to have my own company and work with a setup where I can do programming and helps a lot of companies and support the media like the internet and small business and help any other. I feel like I am the best candidate because I really would use the money towards my tuition since my parents are in Mexico and they cannot help me with finances when they sent me to the US my mom was really bad with lots of diseases so they couldn't support me anymore, now and then I've been paying for my stuff would be the perfect candidate because I will know how to properly use the money towards my tuition and not be afraid of dropping off my future and saying good bye to my dreams, last but not least, I wanna see my parents again and they see me taking that diploma home. After all this suffering I know there will be a time when I will be hugging my parents again, after all this time, always. These are the reasons why would I be the best candidate to win this scholarship, and I promise I will do my best to have the best grades ever and have success during my college and then university, It sounds hard but it is only impossible if you think it is, so hoping to win this opportunity that I will be glad to take and do my best to success.
