Bio

The very nature and veracity of computers has demanded my attention and curiosity even in my earliest memory. So much so, that I must find an environment capable, suitable enough to satisfy my urge to explore the deepest depths of Computer Science. It is this urge that has led me on a search to find ways to make that possible. Academically, I have been working very hard toward this goal, earning the AICE Diploma and AP Scholar Award. I have obtained certificates for ICT Programming Logic and Gaming Essentials. I am currently taking courses in that field like AP Computer Science. Besides my urge for learning, I am the son of Haitian immigrant parents. They are from a generation who were afforded nothing yet still managed to attain all their goals. It is the fact that they succeeded with nothing that forces me to succeed. It is the constant stories of their struggles which they weave into my ears which drives me. I dream of achieving the pinnacle of knowledge in my field of study. Given a description of what I stand for, I am Observant, Reserved, Analytical, and, Honest. Although my definition of success may morph, whether it be having an impact on campus or elevating my academic prowess, the determination I will have towards that success shall not waver. My love for this sphere of knowledge is not a desire that was passed onto me from another, it was born through having fun with the wonderful creations that Computer Science gave life to. I too wish to construct a creation so beautiful and intricate that I may claim it’s very existence to be my heart.

My most significant engagement beyond the classroom was volunteering at my local Haitian church to aid the underprivileged. It was an experience that resonated so clearly with me. I dedicated myself to supplying food and school supplies, often feeling the physical strain as I shed drops of perspiration during each endeavor. However, the true reward lay in the grins that ensued. For every bead of sweat I dropped, I received a smile in return, smiles which carried happiness, smiles which carried gratefulness, and smiles that carried fulfillment. Observing the recipients' elation as they received vital resources was a humbling reminder of the impact a minor gift could have. Each grin sent a message so vast and complex that it could not possibly be described with words and only words alone. Yet, I stood there astonished having understood each and every single message given to me that day, through their smiles. That day, a new pillar of morality was constructed within me, one of introspection. This commitment taught me the immeasurable value of selflessness and underscored the potency of collective action in nurturing a more empathetic world. A memory I may not ever forget. I am the son of Haitian immigrant parents. They are from a generation who were afforded nothing yet still managed to attain nearly everything they desired while helping others along the way. This instills dedication and pride in me, and I hold no doubt this pride is the reason why my ambitions land so grandly, even to myself. It is their discipline and determination to succeed that has been pressed into my veins, it is their fervent desire to do more which runs through my blood. It is the fact that they succeeded with nothing that forces me to succeed, because I have been afforded the slightest advantage. It is the constant stories of their struggles which they weave into my ears which drives me. I dream of achieving the pinnacle of knowledge in my field of study. I dream of strengthening my skill set to a point which even satisfies myself. I dream of one day holding ambitions greater than I could ever imagine. Melded into my person are these statements, born from the analysis of those close to me, my parents.

The very nature and veracity of computers has demanded my attention and curiosity even in my earliest memory. So much so, that my infatuation to understand the mechanical world that is veiled behind sheets of plastic and paint, grows stronger still. So much so, that my desire to learn and to grow permeates my mind ever constantly. So much so, that I must find an environment capable, suitable enough to satisfy my urge to explore the deepest depths of Computer Science. It is this urge that has led me on a search to find ways to make that possible. It is this urge that has let me to your scholarship. Academically, I have been working very hard toward this goal, earning the AICE Diploma and AP Scholar Award. I have completed and received certificates for ICT Programming Logic Essentials, and ICT Gaming Essentials. I am currently taking courses in that field of study, like AP Computer Science and macroeconomics. Besides my urge for learning, I have not talked about myself yet, I am the son of Haitian immigrant parents. They are from a generation who were afforded nothing yet still managed to attain nearly everything they desired, both becoming very successful. This instills dedication and pride in me, and I hold no doubt this pride is the reason why my ambitions land so grandly, even to myself. Melded into my person are these statements, born from the analysis of those close to me, my parents. Given a description of what I stand for, why I take the actions I take, whether or not I lead or choose to be led. As most people are, I am complex but can be summarized down to a simple statement or equation. I am Observant, Reserved, Analytical, and, I am Honest. When given the choice to lead or follow I will always lead, however to me the best position to be in is to neither the leader nor the follower, as linking yourself to a role clouds judgement and biases decisions. Success, the drive for it, orientates my decisions on a fundamental level.
