My name is Jordan Foster, I am currently a senior at Rockdale County High School with endless potential and opportunity awaiting me in life. After Highschool I plan to attend Texas A&M University, where I will Pursue a bachelor’s degree in Technology Management. I am interested in Tech Management, because it involves professionals who help people and businesses solve problems using technology. I am fascinated with both technology and helping people solve problems, so a career which combines these passions of mine would give me personal satisfaction. In the future, technology will be advancing at a rapid pace with amazing new discoveries. Many people will be doing everyday tasks with the help of computers, smartphones, and artificial intelligence. For example, people may not have to drive cars anymore due to advancements in driving technology. With the technology we have today we are not very far from driverless cars, trucks, trains, or planes. My Dad’s car already has “driver assistance” which allows the car to steer, brake, and accelerate all on its own. This technology makes it easier for us to take long road trips without becoming exhausted from driving. All this technology is great but, at the same time, it can be our worst nightmare. Technology advancements are like fire, they can be used for our benefit in many ways, but they can also be a weapon to humanity. Somewhere in the world currently, somebody is conducting research and making new discoveries with technology to better the lives of people in society. He or she could make a powerful impact on our lives in the next year. Also, in the world currently, there are some corrupt individuals or groups of people that are conducting research and making new discoveries with technology to harm innocent people and make life harder. These people could also have a powerful impact on our lives in the next year in a terrible way. In history, corrupt people have always used amazing discoveries to do bad things, so it is not a surprise if that continues to happen in the future, for example, if a company creates an artificial intelligence security robot, someone will try to hack the database which controls the AI and turn that robot into a criminal. A scenario like this sounds like a movie plot, but it could become reality in a year. For technology to be used for societies benefit someone must protect everyday people from the bad guys behind the screen or AI systems. I plan to use my college degree in Technology Management to enter the cybersecurity field and protect people in my community and all around the world from people who want to use technology for the wrong reasons.
Norman H. Becker Integrity and Honor Scholarship
Having integrity means consistently adhering to a set of moral and ethical principles, even in situations where it may be difficult or unpopular to do so. It involves being honest and transparent in your actions and decisions and treating others with respect and fairness. Integrity also means taking responsibility for your actions and being accountable for any mistakes or errors. It involves admitting when you're wrong, apologizing when necessary, and taking steps to make things right. People with integrity are trustworthy and dependable, and their word can be counted on. Integrity is not just about following a strict code of conduct or blindly obeying rules. It's about making choices that align with your values and beliefs, and doing what you believe is right, even if it means going against the norm or standing up to pressure from others. I know what it is like to stand up to peer pressure for beliefs because of my religion. I do not celebrate certain holidays, and I can not eat certain foods. I have been persecuted many times because of my beliefs, even by members of my own family, but I refuse to fall from the heavenly standard I hold myself to just because others do not support me. In essence, having integrity is about living a life of honor and character, and being true to yourself and others. It's an essential trait for building trust, fostering healthy relationships, and achieving long-term success and happiness.

STEM fields, which include science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, have traditionally been dominated by white men. While progress has been made in recent years to increase the representation of women and people of color in STEM careers, significant disparities still exist. Diverse representation in STEM is not only a matter of fairness, but it is also critical for the long-term success of the industry and innovation. In this essay, I will discuss why it is important to have diverse representation in STEM careers. First and foremost, diverse representation leads to a more inclusive and equitable workplace. A workplace that is inclusive and equitable allows all employees to feel valued and respected, regardless of their background. This creates a positive working environment where everyone can bring their best ideas and contributions to the table, leading to increased innovation and creativity. Additionally, a diverse workplace leads to a better understanding of different perspectives and experiences, which can result in better problem-solving and decision-making. Second, diverse representation in STEM careers ensures that all individuals have the opportunity to participate in and benefit from the growth and prosperity of these fields. STEM careers are some of the fastest-growing and most lucrative fields, and people from all backgrounds must have equal access to these opportunities. This is particularly important for communities of color, who have been historically excluded from these fields and are still underrepresented today. When people from diverse backgrounds are excluded from STEM careers, it perpetuates systemic inequality and limits the potential for growth and progress in these fields. Third, diverse representation in STEM careers can lead to more innovation and creativity. Studies have shown that diverse groups perform better and produce better outcomes than homogeneous groups. This is because diverse groups bring different experiences, perspectives, and ideas to the table, leading to more creativity and problem-solving. Furthermore, diverse representation in STEM careers can help to reduce the risk of groupthink, where a homogeneous group is more likely to make decisions based on consensus rather than considering all possible options. Finally, diverse representation in STEM careers helps to dispel stereotypes and misconceptions about what a scientist, engineer, or mathematician looks like. When children and young people see people who look like them in these careers, it sends a message that they too can pursue these careers and be successful. This can help to close the achievement gap and increase the representation of underrepresented groups in STEM fields, leading to a more diverse and inclusive workforce in the future. In conclusion, diverse representation in STEM careers is essential for a fair and inclusive workplace, equal access to opportunities, increased innovation and creativity, and dispelling stereotypes. While progress has been made in recent years to increase the representation of women and people of color in STEM careers, there is still much work to be done. Organizations and institutions need to take action to increase diversity in STEM fields and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate and succeed in these careers.

Football has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was a kid, I have loved everything about the sport - the strategy, the physicality, and the sense of camaraderie it brings. In high school, my passion for football had a profound impact on my life and academics. First and foremost, playing football has taught me the importance of discipline and hard work. The sport requires a great deal of dedication and effort, and to succeed, one must be willing to put in the time and energy. This mindset has carried over into my academics, as I have found that the same discipline and hard work that is required to excel on the field is also required to excel in the classroom. Furthermore, playing football has taught me the value of teamwork and communication. In football, one must work together with their teammate to achieve a common goal. This has helped me to understand the importance of collaboration and communication in all aspects of life, including academics. I have found that by working closely with my classmates and teachers, I can achieve greater success in my studies. Additionally, being a part of a team has taught me how to handle the pressure and stress that comes with competition. Football games can be incredibly intense and stressful, but I have learned how to stay calm and focused under pressure. This skill has been incredibly valuable in my academic life, as it has helped me to remain composed during high-pressure situations such as exams and presentations. Lastly, playing football has taught me the importance of time management. Balancing the demands of football and academics can be challenging, but I have learned how to manage my time effectively. I have learned to prioritize my responsibilities, and to make sure that my schoolwork is always done before I can spend time on football. This skill has helped me to stay on top of my studies while still enjoying my passion for the sport. Overall, my passion for football has had a positive impact on my academics in high school. The discipline, teamwork, and time management skills that I have learned through playing the sport have been invaluable in helping me to achieve success in the classroom. Football will always be an important part of my life, and I am grateful for how it has helped me to grow and develop as a student.

I have developed this passion to help people, because of the personal and academic challenges I faced in High School. One challenge I faced, was the fear of failure. I thought I was defined by a 4.0 and test scores. Though my grades were always great, my test scores were not. It was crucial to be perfect immediately because I felt that one test or one evaluation forever measured my potential. If I received a bad test score, I felt like a failure. What I did not understand was that grades and scores are not who you are, they reflect your effort and determination. Instead of allowing a bad score to define me, I learned to use it as motivation to study harder or spend time focusing on an area in which I was struggling. I have noticed that people become limited from reaching their true potential because they feel they are defined by their failures. Financial Literacy Importance Scholarship
Managing finances as a student is crucial for several reasons. For one, it is essential for maintaining a healthy and stable financial future. Additionally, proper financial management can help to mitigate stress and uncertainty, allowing students to focus on their studies and other important aspects of their lives. In this essay, I will explore the reasons why students need to manage their finances, as well as some strategies and tools that can be used to do so. One of the most important reasons for students to manage their finances is to prepare for their future. As students, we are often focused on the present and the immediate future, but it is important to think about the long term as well. By managing our finances as students, we are setting ourselves up for success in the future. This includes things like creating a budget, saving money, and investing in our education. By taking these steps, we can ensure that we will have the resources we need to pursue our goals and achieve our dreams. Another important reason for students to manage their finances is to reduce stress and uncertainty. Being a student can be stressful enough without having to worry about money. By managing our finances, we can create a sense of stability and security that can help to alleviate some of this stress. Additionally, being able to budget and save money can give us a sense of control over our finances, which can be empowering. So, how do I manage my finances? One strategy is creating a budget. This can be done by tracking your income and expenses and determining where your money is going. Once you have a clear picture of where your money is going, you can make adjustments to reduce unnecessary expenses and increase savings. Additionally, setting financial goals can be helpful. This can include things like saving for a down payment on a house, paying off student loans, or creating an emergency fund. By setting specific, measurable goals, we can stay motivated and on track. Another tool that I use to manage finances is budgeting apps. These apps allow me to track my income and expenses, set financial goals, and even create a budget. Some popular budgeting apps include Mint, PocketGuard, and Rocket Money. These apps can be accessed through your phone, which makes it easy to keep track of your finances on the go. In conclusion, managing finances as a student is crucial for maintaining a healthy and stable financial future, reducing stress and uncertainty, and achieving our goals. By creating a budget, setting financial goals, and using budgeting apps, students can take control of their finances and set themselves up for success. It is important to remember that financial management is not a one-time event, but rather a lifelong process that requires ongoing monitoring and adjustments. By developing good financial habits now, students can set themselves up for a lifetime of financial success.

Growing up as the son of a financial advisor, financial literacy was instilled in me from my youth. I received my first bank account, debit card, and savings account in elementary school so I learned to be smart with my money at a very young age. Financial literacy is an essential skill for individuals to have to make informed decisions about their money and achieve financial stability. As someone who has made my own financial mistakes and learned from them, I believe it is important to teach others about the importance of financial literacy and how to make smart financial decisions. Here is my plan for teaching others to be financially literate: First, I plan to start with the basics. This includes understanding the difference between needs and wants, setting financial goals, creating a budget, and understanding how to save and invest money. I will also emphasize the importance of having an emergency fund to protect against unexpected expenses. Next, I will teach individuals about credit and how to use it responsibly. This includes understanding credit scores, the difference between good and bad debt, and how to avoid falling into credit card debt. I will also discuss the importance of paying bills on time and the consequences of not doing so. I will also address the topic of saving for retirement and the importance of starting early. I will discuss the various options for saving for retirement, including 401(k)s, IRAs, and pension plans, and the benefits and drawbacks of each. I will also encourage individuals to do their research and consult with a financial advisor to determine the best plan for their individual needs. In addition to traditional financial topics, I will also address issues such as student loans and how to manage them effectively. This includes understanding the different types of loans, repayment options, and strategies for paying off student debt. Another important aspect of financial literacy is understanding financial scams and how to protect oneself from them. I will teach individuals about common financial scams and how to identify them, as well as strategies for avoiding them. To ensure that the information I am teaching is relevant and up-to-date, I plan to stay informed on current financial issues and trends. I will also encourage individuals to do their research and seek out additional resources for further learning. To effectively teach others about financial literacy, I plan to use a variety of teaching methods. This includes lectures, group discussions, and hands-on activities such as creating a budget or investing in a mock portfolio. I will also utilize technology, such as videos and online resources, to supplement my teachings. Finally, I will encourage individuals to put what they have learned into practice by setting financial goals and creating a plan to achieve them. I will also offer ongoing support and resources to help individuals stay on track and continue learning about financial literacy. In conclusion, teaching others to be financially literate is a crucial step in helping them achieve financial stability and success. By starting with the basics and addressing a variety of financial topics, using a variety of teaching methods, and encouraging individuals to put what they have learned into practice, I believe I can effectively teach others to be financially literate.

In the Black community sports are a way of life. Many kids like me with no way of paying for college, lean on sports such as basketball or football as a gateway out of the environment we grew up in. In many cases being an athlete saved the lives of people around me. Instead of hanging out with the wrong crowds, or going to dangerous house parties, athletes are stuck on the field or the court away from all the drama. While playing sports is a benefit to many, it became an obstacle to me; quitting football saved my life. At the beginning of my junior year football season, I was excited to finally get a starting position on my team. After a long season of bench warming the previous year, I got tired of being a reject and decided to put on muscle mass to contend with my competition. After putting in tons of work at the gym, my coaches were shocked to see I had put on forty-five pounds in 6 months and were excited to put me on the field. My performance in our first game against a rival school did not disappoint them, as I walked onto our home field with confidence and played my heart out. The next day, a teammate notified me that I made the most tackles on my defense and received the “Max Preps Player of the Game” award. As I looked at our team leaderboard, I found out that I also had the second most tackles in the state of Georgia. Instead of being motivated by my achievements, I began to doubt myself. As the season went on, I questioned my ability to ever make as many tackles in a game as I once did. I wanted to meet my coaches’ elevated expectations but feared falling short of them. My fear caused my performance to decline, as I began to fear missing tackles. As my fear grew, I tried staying away from ball carriers and even faked injuries to stay out of the game. My coaches strongly reproved me and told me I was scared - as if that was supposed to motivate me to gain courage. As the pressure from my coaches and the pressure to perform persisted, my morale plummeted. I could no longer take the pressure, so I quit. I did not realize it at the time but quitting the team was the best decision I could have made. I was curious to understand why I started to doubt myself after being praised by my coaches, so I began to view myself Introspectively. I realized that I had a fear of failure. I reflected on childhood events when people put their trust in me to win something, but I would become fearful of losing and give up so that I would have an excuse for not trying. I also noticed the same fear in school: I stayed away from hard classes and gave up on certain tests whenever questions got hard. After months of basking in thought, I learned how to view failure as a good thing. I have learned that failure is not a setback, it is just slow success. I now cultivate success by introspectively viewing my failures and learning how to grow from them. I am also motivated to use my struggles and failures to shape success in my life and the lives of others around me.

I have noticed that people become limited from reaching their true potential, because they fear failure. Fear of failure is a common experience for many people. It can be defined as the anxious or anxious avoidance of situations or actions that may lead to failure or negative evaluation. This fear can be debilitating, causing people to avoid taking risks or trying new things for fear of falling short. There are many potential causes for this fear. For some, it may be rooted in past experiences of failure or criticism. Others may fear failure due to societal expectations or pressure to succeed. In some cases, fear of failure may be related to low self-esteem or a lack of self-confidence. Regardless of the cause, fear of failure can have negative consequences. It may prevent people from pursuing their goals or dreams, leading to a sense of frustration or disappointment. It can also cause people to miss out on opportunities for growth and self-improvement. However, it is important to recognize that failure is a natural and inevitable part of life. No one is perfect, and making mistakes is simply a part of the learning and growth process. Embracing this fact and viewing failure as a learning opportunity can help people overcome their fear of it. I believe my accomplishments are measured by failure because, the more I fail, the more I learn to succeed. What others see as failure; I see as slow success. I also see personal inadequacy as strength. Through my inadequacies, I cultivate success by Introspectively viewing my failures and learning how to grow from them.

The best financial advice I have received is to start saving and investing as early as possible. When I was younger, I didn't think much about saving or investing for the future. I thought I had plenty of time to worry about those things later on. But as I've grown older, I've come to realize that the earlier you start saving and investing, the better off you will be in the long run. One of the main reasons why it's important to start saving and investing early is because of the power of compound interest. Essentially, compound interest is the interest that you earn on your investments, as well as the interest that you earn on the interest that you have already earned. This means that the longer you leave your money invested, the more it will grow. For example, if you start saving $100 per month at the age of 25 and continue saving until you are 65, you will have saved a total of $72,000. But if you wait until you are 35 to start saving, you will only have saved $48,000 by the time you reach 65. This is because you missed out on ten years of compound interest. Another piece of financial advice I have received is to diversify my investments. Diversification means spreading your money across a variety of different investments, rather than putting all of your eggs in one basket. This can help to reduce risk because if one investment doesn't do well, you will still have other investments that may be doing better. For example, rather than investing all of your money in a single stock, you might invest in a variety of stocks, as well as bonds, real estate, and other types of investments. This way, if one type of investment doesn't do well, you will still have other investments that may be performing better. Finally, I have been advised to have an emergency fund. An emergency fund is a set amount of money that you set aside for unexpected expenses, such as a medical emergency or a car repair. Having an emergency fund can provide peace of mind because it gives you a safety net in case something unexpected happens. It's a good idea to aim for at least three to six months' worth of living expenses in your emergency fund. In conclusion, the best financial advice I have received is to start saving and investing as early as possible, diversify my investments, and have an emergency fund. These strategies can help me to build wealth over the long term, and to be prepared for the unexpected.

The characteristic I value most in myself is my discipline. Discipline was responsible for getting me up every morning before school to go to the gym so I could be bigger, stronger, and faster than my opponent in football. Discipline was responsible for keeping me engaged with my schoolwork and extracurricular activities so I would be well-rounded and prepared for college. When I feel weak or tired discipline gets me to push myself beyond my limits. I am blessed to have discipline because it sets me apart from other seventeen-year-olds. Discipline is an important aspect of life that helps individuals to develop self-control, self-regulation, and a sense of responsibility. It is a crucial component for achieving success in any aspect of life, whether it be in personal relationships, academic pursuits, or career development. One of the key benefits of discipline is that it helps individuals to set and achieve goals. Discipline allows individuals to develop a clear plan of action and follow it consistently, which is essential for reaching any long-term objective. It also helps individuals to stay focused and avoid distractions, which is crucial for staying on track and making progress toward their goals. Discipline is also important for personal development and self-improvement. By practicing discipline, individuals can develop strong habits and routines that lead to better physical and mental health. Discipline helps individuals to form healthy habits such as exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, and getting enough sleep, which is essential for overall well-being. It also helps individuals to develop self-control and resist temptation, which can be particularly challenging in today's fast-paced and distracting world. In addition to personal development, discipline is also important for success in professional and academic settings. Employers and educators value discipline because it helps individuals to be reliable, productive, and efficient. It allows individuals to meet deadlines, follow rules and procedures, and work well in a team setting. Discipline also helps individuals to learn new skills and knowledge more effectively, which is essential for career advancement and academic success. Overall, discipline is a crucial component for achieving success and happiness in life. It helps individuals to set and achieve goals, develop healthy habits, and succeed in professional and academic settings. By practicing discipline, individuals can take control of their lives and reach their full potential. I plan to dedicate my life to teaching the youth discipline so they can go beyond their limits and do things they thought were impossible.

    1) Fitness has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was a young child, I have been drawn to physical activity and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with pushing my body to its limits. As I grew older, this passion only intensified, and I began to view fitness as not just a hobby, but as a way of life. Throughout my teenage years, I was heavily involved in sports, playing on various teams, and participating in individual athletics. I loved the rush of competition and the sense of camaraderie that came with being part of a team. As I entered high school, I continued to prioritize fitness, and I began to explore a wider range of activities, including running, cycling, and weightlifting. In the years since my passion for fitness has only grown stronger. I have learned to view exercise as an important aspect of self-care, and I have come to understand the numerous physical and mental benefits it provides. In addition to helping me maintain a healthy weight and build muscle, regular physical activity has also helped me to reduce stress, increase my energy levels, and improve my overall sense of well-being. One of the things I love most about fitness is the sense of accomplishment it brings. Whether I am lifting heavier weights, running a faster mile, or simply feeling more energetic and alert, I am constantly motivated by the progress I am making. I also enjoy the social aspect of fitness and have made many friends through my participation in various sports and fitness activities. In recent years, I have also become interested in the science behind fitness and have spent countless hours researching and learning about the latest developments in the field. I have found that this has only further fueled my passion, as I am constantly amazed by the incredible ways in which the human body can adapt and improve with regular exercise. My passion for fitness is something that I hope to carry with me for the rest of my life. Whether I am competing in a race, lifting weights at the gym, or simply going for a leisurely hike, I am always grateful for the opportunity to engage in physical activity and to improve my overall health and well-being. 2) I have what it takes to overcome obstacles that will come my way because of the discipline and mental strength I've gained from fitness. Life is similar to building muscle, for a muscle to grow it must be broken down in failure so it can repair itself and become stronger. I understand in life that failure is an opportunity to grow and become stronger which is why no obstacle or challenge can stand in my way. 3) I plan to give back to those less fortunate than myself by opening up a sports complex in my childhood community. My sports complex will provide extracurricular activities for kids that live in the area so they can have a safe and fun place to be after school. I plan to get more kids into fitness so that they gain mental discipline and focus the way I did by working out. I also plan to incorporate community service events through the sports complex as a way to be a helping hand in my community.

Over the past year I have become more mentally, spiritually, and emotionally mature. During my junior year in high school, everything was new, it was my first full year back in school since the covid-19 pandemic and I started to face some new challenges; the SAT and my fear of failure. In school, I thought I was defined by a 4.0 and test scores. Though my grades were always great, my SAT scores were not. Every time I went to take the SAT, I had a panic attack and could not finish my test. At first, I felt like nobody understood what I was going through, when I spoke to my parents, they advised getting me a tutor, but I knew that was not the problem. I spoke to my school counselors, but all they would say is "Just do your best". I knew it was not the material of the test itself but my mindset toward the test. Negative thoughts plagued me during the test which caused me to give up, so I started to research why I was feeling this way and stumbled upon a few spiritual and psychology-based books that focused on mindsets. As I became determined to raise my test scores, I started paying attention to my thoughts and mindset when studying for the test. After viewing myself introspectively I found out that I had a fear of failure. I feared getting questions wrong because I thought one incorrect answer would keep me from getting a good score and if I did not have good scores, I thought I would be labeled a failure. I focused on scores more than I focused on the strategies and steps it took to achieve high scores. It was crucial to be perfect immediately because I felt that one test or one evaluation measured my potential forever. Fortunately, after reading more books about mindsets, I began to understand that grades and scores are not who you are, they just reflect your effort and determination. Instead of allowing a bad score to define me, I learned to use it as motivation to study harder next time or spend time focusing on an area, I was struggling in. I also began thinking about how failure affected my potential differently. I believe that true potential cannot be based on one application, one test score, one essay, or one transcript. My potential is truly measured by failure: the more I fail, the more I learn to succeed. What others see as failure; I see as slow success. I also see personal inadequacy as strength. Through my inadequacies, I cultivate success by Introspectively viewing my failures and learning how to grow from them. Through this self-discovery journey sparked by the SAT, I became more mature because it is the first time in my life that I researched myself to become a better person. I began reading more, memorizing scriptures, and staying focused. I am thankful for these events because they taught me how to better my life and the lives of others around me.

As I looked at our team leaderboard, I found out that I also had the second most tackles in the state. I am thankful that I had this experience with football because I now cultivate success by introspectively viewing my failures and learning how to grow from them. I am also motivated to use my struggles and failures to shape success in my life and the lives of others around me.
