Hailey Julia "Jesus Changed my Life" Scholarship
My name is Jordan. I was born in Taiwan to a single mother who was addicted to drugs. She was put in prison after I was born and I was placed in a foster home and later an orphanage. I would have stayed in the orphanage until I was 18 and could find a job and support myself but God had other plans for me. My adoptive parents are from the United States and they were working in Taiwan. They would come to the orphanage on the weekends with their three daughters (now my sisters) and play with the kids and take us to church. They felt the Lord telling them that I was their son, so they contacted my caseworker and asked her about me. Tears started running down my caseworker's face as she took my file out of a drawer and told them she had been looking for a family for me and in just two months when I turned five, I would no longer be eligible for adoption. That was just the beginning of God changing and working in my life. He gave my godly parents and grandparents, sent me to a Christian school for the first 6 years of my schooling, and opened the door for me to become an American citizen. I moved back to the States with my family when I started 7th grade. Going to public school in the US was a big adjustment and I have had to learn to put Jesus first when it is not always the popular thing to do. He has been faithful to me, giving me opportunities in sports and extracurricular activities, giving me a great group of Christian friends, and surrounding me with a loving church family. I am excited to see what He continues to do in my life as I start college. I want to glorify Him and make him known through my life.
