I am from a beautiful family in Rwanda, in central Africa; I grew up there in a service class family. In my teens, I came to United States and did my studies here in a military high school. Having interest in finance and economy, I found banking and finance as an interesting career option so I decided to take some courses that will prepare me for the major in college. I have seen a lot of people go bankrupt in their late ages and that saddens me, with my degree I believe I will fight this issue.
My family’s financial status isn’t in good state right now, therefore I am working hard to get the most scholarships I can get and finish my studies. In my family, I had older brothers who always treated me like I couldn’t do anything for myself. That being said, it didn’t refrain me from showcasing my abilities and achieving great things. My goal is to lead an investment firm and to grow my continent to a respectable status.
I am passionate about politics, at my high school I got the opportunity to be the president of Model United nations. I want to make the world a better place by advocating equality. MUN allowed me to enhance my public skills and to give my opinion on equality.
I am very outgoing, friendly and creative. I feel I have leadership skills, and the ability to do a teamwork task effectively. My favorite hobbies are reading books and researching on the economy to further my knowledge.

Bold Meaning of Life Scholarship
No well-minded senior in high school claims to have discovered any indisputable meaning of life. To do so would bring an end to all questions. Mankind has entered and exited hundreds upon thousands of eras throughout human history wondering and creating their own meanings in life. The first section of Viktor Frankl’s “Man’s Search For Meaning” in essence focuses on how only the concentration camp prisoners who felt they had a purpose to their lives, a goal or future to live for, survived. Anyone who lost meaning or purpose, a reason for living, would soon die. Love gives life meaning, religion gives life meaning, and suffering brings life meaning. I myself have loved and been loved. I was born in raised, and I have experienced suffering - if not in the purest of forms, but in one way or another.
From what I can gather from my short time on this planet, my meaning in life is to someday be given the opportunity to put to use the skills I’ve been gifted with in this life to provide with financial advice to the people that need it the most. I try to achieve this by having a talk with people in my domain, people who experienced the process. Additionally, I research thoroughly to gain more knowledge because in this world there is always something new to learn.
Bold Dream Big Scholarship
Every day I like to take some time aside from my responsibilities to think about my dreams and all the goals I want to achieve. My dream is to become a successful investor. Investing is something that has always intrigued me. As my father is a successful investment banker, since childhood, I had this keen interest to be a part of or to lead an investment firm. In this world, a lot of people retire with little to no money invested leaving them with a financial burden for the rest of their life. I have always wished to fight the issue and completely eradicate it, it is a long way but I will get there.
Only having a dream won’t help, I also need to work towards the achievement of my dream. As investing is not as easy as it seems, first I need to understand the basics of what investing actually is. This will the first step towards my dream. So after completing my intermediary, I have enrolled myself in a reputed college to do my bachelors in finance. After completing my bachelors , I will also do my Masters in Finance. By then I will have gained the complete knowledge on investing and its functioning which will help me reach my dream.
Apart from the theoretical part, I can always count on my father to share with me the practical experiences and advices that will help me shape my dream. This will take me closer to my dream of becoming a successful investment banker. I have also started reading magazines about successful investments and their success stories in order to gain some idea that will help me in the long. I will put the best of my efforts and work hard towards achieving my dream.
Bold Legacy Scholarship
Legacy is a reputation that is left behind by a person which is likely to affect his or her generation and those close. Legacy is determined by how a person lived in his or her life which will become the basis on which he will be remembered. It is hoped that as a person goes through life, they make decisions that not will only affect their lives but also the lives of those who are close to them. In most cases, legacy sets a foundation that will affect subsequent generations. Legacy can hence have both positive and negative impacts depending on how they affected acquaintances.
I am personally working hard to ensure that I live something commendable not only for my children but the other people that are looking up to me. After going through life and the experiences that others have gone through, I realize that money has an answer to almost everything. It is for this purpose that I desire to be rich so that my children will not lack anything. I do not desire to live like Eugene Carman who spent all the days of his life on one economic activity that did not yield him much. He overworked himself just to get enough for the day instead of having some investments. I would instead to be like Doctor Meyers who lived a selfless life for the benefit of those around. There is no telling of the people that were touched by his services. He did all he could to ensure that his patients had a second chance. His children too were happy and well fed as he enjoyed a good return for his work.
Bold Wisdom Scholarship
“ No one is you, and that is your power. “
I believe that the utter truth behind the above sentence is the idea of SELF LOVE.
In today's world we are constantly bombarded with the idea of perfectionism, the lives we wish we had, or the people that we wish we could look like specially on social media.
It is okay to admire what other people have. However, the problem arises when it becomes a way for you to seek validation for something. We spend way too much time looking for the ‘perfect' filter or having about two dozen of the exact same shot in order to get maximum likes and comments.
It doesn't matter how many instagram likes and comments you get on your pictures. The only person whose ‘like' truely matters, and whose comment should truely influence the way you live your life is, YOU.
What matters is that you love yourself, and that you love your own imperfect characteristics that make us human beings.
Bold Books Scholarship
I have read a number of books during my career as a student. None has influenced me so much as the Gita. I feel enamoured of it. It has changed the very course of my life. It has proved a turning point in my life. It is a mine of diamonds. The more I read it, the more I like it. I read it daily without fail. It has become a part and parcel of my life.
The immortal message of the Gita was given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna, on the battle field of Kurukshetra. Arjuna was torn by doubts. He refused to fight and kill his own kith and kin. Lord Krishna gave him the inspiring message of the Gita, the message of do and die.
The fundamental teaching of the Gita is selfless action. He who renounces the fruit of action, reaps a thousand-fold. He who is ever thinking over the result loses nerve in the performance of duty.
The Gita is the gospel of action. Work, work, ever work, without any idea of the fruit, is a panacea. He who gives up action falls; he who gives up the fruit rises. The teaching of the Gita is: To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield.
According to the Gita, the soul is imperishable. Only the body perishes. The soul is immortal. It is eternal. It is birthless and deathless. The soul changes the body as a man changes his old clothes for new ones.
The Gita is the pride of India. It is the respository of spiritualism. It is the essence of the Vedas and the Upanishds. It enables the world to discover its soul. India’s culture is mirrored in it. It is a light-house. It is a fountainhead of light and learning.
Bold Patience Matters Scholarship
Sometimes, in our relationships, we become defensive, irritated, and say something to hurt others. We do not realize the importance of patience and end up making hasty decisions. Whenever you feel defensive against the person, try to be patient enough to take time to think over another person’s positive qualities.
Patience helps you to be empathetic, Building empathy towards others is very important if you want to live a hassle-free life. If you get irritated by a crying baby or a loud child playing in front of you, you must think about developing your patience. Patience helps you build empathy towards others. Patience helps us accept other people as they are and makes us tolerant. By being impatient, you suffer more than other people.
Patience helps acquire positive attitude
If things are not going the way you want them to, instead of getting frustrated, you must learn to be patient. You need to see things and situations in a positive light to make your life happier. And to get that positivity, you need to be patient.
If you find any life situation challenging, or find it difficult to bear, try to re-frame that situation and try to see its positive side.
Patience is an important tool in overcoming frustration. Patience allows us to suspend judgment long enough to make informed decisions, thus paving the path to a happy and peaceful life.
Gary "G" Goldstein Scholarship
Tears streamed down my face and my mind was paralyzed with fear. Sirens blared, but the silent panic in my own head was deafening. I was muted by shock. A few hours earlier, I had anticipated a vacation in Washington, D.C., but unexpectedly, I was rushing to the hospital behind an ambulance carrying my friend. As a fourteen-year-old, without a driver’s license, and seven hours from home, I was distraught over the prospect of losing the closest friend I had. My fear turned into action as I made some of the bravest decisions of my life.
Three blood transfusions later, my friend’s condition was stable, but we were still states away from home, so I coordinated with my friend’s doctors in North Carolina to schedule the emergency operation that would save her life. Throughout her surgery, I anxiously awaited any word from his surgeon, but each time I asked, I was told that there had been another complication or delay. Relying on my faith and positive attitude, I remained optimistic that my friend would survive and that I could embrace new responsibilities.
My friend had been a source of strength for me, and now I would be strong for her through her long recovery ahead. As I started high school, everyone thought the crisis was over, but it had really just started to impact my life. My friend was often fatigued, so I assumed more responsibility, juggling family duties, and helping him catch up with assignments. I made countless trips to his house to support him, get him some groceries and school assignments. With all assignments I had, I didn’t know I was capable of such maturity and resourcefulness until it was called upon. Each day was a stage in my gradual transformation from dependence to relative independence.
Throughout my friend’s health crisis, I matured by learning to put others’ needs before my own. As I worried about my friend’s health, I took nothing for granted, cherished what I had, and used my daily activities as motivation to move forward. I now take ownership over small decisions such as scheduling daily appointments and managing my time but also over major decisions involving my future, including the college admissions process. Although I have become more independent, my friend and I are inseparably close, and the realization that I almost lost his affects me daily. Each morning, I wake up ten minutes early simply to pass by my friend’s house and spend time with him before our busy days begin. I am aware of how quickly life can change. My friend remains a guiding force in my life, but the feeling of empowerment I discovered within myself is the ultimate form of my independence. Though I thought the summer before my freshman year would be a transition from middle school to high school, it was a transformation from childhood to adulthood.
Learner.com Algebra Scholarship
Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, have all to do with probably the most unpopular word around, math. The question is though, why is math so disliked by people? Do we need a new way to teach math? Why is math so important to learn and be able to apply it to our everyday lives? In the New York Times, they explained is there a world of difference between teaching “pure” math, with no context, and teaching relevant problems that will lead students to appreciate how a mathematical formula models and clarifies real-world situation.
Making students just study for a grade instead of studying to learn it down the road. If you were to walk around a high school or college, and asked what their favorite subject was, probably very few would say math. Mathematics isn’t the most popular subject in school, but it actually is the most hidden subject used in everyday life. Not many enjoy doing math because frankly it is rigorous and there can only be one answer to every problem. Math isn’t the easiest subject to learn and when things get hard people tend to give up. The “I’m bad at math, is just a myth. The Atlantic Post did a story on “basic ability in math isn’t the product of good genes, but hard work”. If we want it bad enough, we will work for it, but math has to become a priority. Some even think that they will never use this down the road, so they become less interested. For example, some say when are we going to have to solve a quadratic equation or find the TAN of a circle. Students believe that math shouldn’t even be required to take because it doesn’t pertain to their major. All students do is complain about not wanting to learn, but students don’t understand that mathematics actually builds upon itself, it comes up in almost every job imaginable.
Tricia Kehn, a former high school math teacher states, “It is about the skills students acquire in order to accomplish daily tasks and to set and reach goals”. Maybe not so much on the different formulas, but at least once a day you use some sort of math to figure something out. Pretty crazy if you think about it and maybe that’s why kids now a day don’t understand the importance of math. They actually don’t even know that they are using it. How about when you look at a clock to tell how long until school is over with? You’re actually using math by adding and subtracting the minutes. Watching a football game and want to know how many touchdowns your team is up, you would use math. If you didn’t know your basic skills, would you of been able to figure those two things out without using a calculator? Probably, but with some difficulty and maybe even much time wasted. It’s crazy how we use math in our everyday lives without even realizing it. College board also emphasized how math is important for your career and how you will need math to succeed.
The world is in chaos, and will continue to be, math is a rock. Math is a rock. It is safe. When every other subject is questioning what has been supposedly proved in the past, math takes what we already know and uses it to solve problems. In a world full of change, chaos, and disaster, math is something that stays the same and continues to grow at the same time.
Bold Giving Scholarship
There are many reasons why giving is important. It is a way to show appreciation, to say thank you, or to show someone you care. Sometimes it is hard to express true feelings in words, but offering a token of appreciation will not only represent your feelings, but will allow the recipient to know how much you appreciate them.
There are many people that we come across in our every day life that perhaps make our days easier, such as neighbors, co-workers, even mail carriers or the local cashier at the grocery store. While giving does not always have to be a gift, offering a kind word or a friendly smile goes a long way in saying thank you for all you do, and will encourage the chances of a friendly and successful relationship in the community.
Donating some money to the less fortunate human beings has become one of the financial habits I practice on a monthly basis. It has taught me that giving is so important and can create big changes in people's lives. Despite the fact that I don’t have much, I always try my best to put a smile on someone’s face with the little I have.
Throughout my experience, I have learned that every person can find a way to contribute to the society and those in need. I have found out that my true calling is giving to people who happen to find themselves in a less fortunate position than the majority of the population. My goal is to open up a business that creates more jobs for the unfortunate.
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
- Winston Churchill
Ron Johnston Student Athlete Scholarship
Every day in our life we get inspired by something or by different people in our life. Despite being inspired by many we all have somebody in our lives that inspires us the most. This choice may differ from person to person. We all are heading forward in our life to become successful. It is only the inspiration that makes a great difference in our thoughts and helps us achieve our goals and get success.
When we observe some good qualities in others we want to do the same in our life. It changes our perspective of living. This can only happen when we get inspired by people or thing that makes us think positive as well as motivate us for doing something. We need it most when we are depressed or sad by some failure or great loss in life. It is the inspiration only that makes us strong again to fight the battle of our life. Inspiration is that idea that can change the lives of many people.
I have been inspired by a number of people and instances in my life. Inspiration to me is like a catalyst that awakens my power and ability to work. The biggest inspiration in my life is none other than my family and the person I admire the most is my father. He is the one who has inspired me from my childhood. His qualities like hard-working nature, discipline, sacrifice, and sympathy inspire me a lot. I want to work and become like him.
My father has a good habit of reading books whenever he is free from his office works. He has his own library of books. My father always teaches us to never become afraid of any situation in life. Sometimes my father has been harsh with me but it is because he never wants me to be down in my life. He has a lot of expectations from me and my sisters. The way he manages every work in life gives me a great lesson. He teaches me every day and is good at all subjects. Whatever he does not know he reads and then explains it to me. Once I was very ill and therefore I could not prepare well for my exams. I was much worried about this but my father gave me the courage to give my best and leave the results on God.
He has supported me many times whenever I have been in any stressful situation. The way my father struggled in his life to get out from the clutches of poverty and become self-dependent in his life encourages me to do something big in my life so that I can make my father proud of me. Whenever I am discouraged, the words of my father make me again ready to fight and win in any type of situation. This thought always revolves in my mind that when my father could make his way through such an adverse situation then why cannot I, after getting every kind of facility. This helps me to gather sufficient courage and enthusiasm and easily face every difficulty in my life. I always want to be a reason for the smile on the face of my father.
We are known by our thoughts and actions. Inspiration is an idea that can mold our thoughts and bring a change to our actions that may surely lead us towards success. I am very blessed to have my father in my life as my best friend and a great source of inspiration to me.
Bold Driven Scholarship
When I was ten years old, my mother lost her job due to pregnancy and was one of the darkest days in our family. Since she hadn’t made investments or savings, she was left with no means for surviving during the pregnancy.
When she got pregnant, her manager told her that if she was to take care of the child it would affect her work and that she could loose her job. Worrying about the child, she decided to take care of the child and it cost her job. It was a hard time for me, I would watch her in pain every single day and it would hurt me.
Watching her going through this pain opened my eyes and showed me my passion for helping others. A passion for helping others in the same way eventually turned into a career goal of becoming an investment banker.
Although I still have long way, I am positive I will get there. I have started taking online courses and gaining knowledge about the finance field. I have had the chance to have a talk with great investment bankers in the country and learned so much from them. I plan to start college in the fall of 2022, and will major in financial services. Thenceforth, I will pursue a masters degree in the same field. The experience with my mother revealed what were my career goals, I will make sure that no family ever goes through such financial issues.
Warren buffet once said, “ Never depend on a single income, make an investment to create a second source.”
Bold Passion Scholarship
By definition, a passion is a strong and barely controllable emotion. We live every day following a passion on guiding us to the necessary tools of daily motivation. Beginning off, I am passionate about learning and getting the proper education I need to further myself in life. Reason being, my mom, and dad had never been a “helicopter parent” when it came to grades; they would just look over my work, check in with me now and then to make sure I was doing what I am supposed to be doing. Therefore, I needed to push myself to be aware of what I had to do to prove to them that I was responsible.
Family is a big part of my life as anyone would say, but personally, I do not know where I would be without them. In my teens, I had a bad fall in while jumping around and I broke my ankle. Although the injury wasn’t severe, it was bad enough I wouldn’t be able to play my soccer district finals. To be honest, it was one of the darkest days of my life. If it wasn’t for my family and the community being there for me, I wouldn’t have pulled through and be able to play. With all their support, I recovered and got cleared for the game.
Family is important because it provides love, support and a framework of values to each of its members. Family and community have both been instrumental in my drive to reach my full potential. Furthermore, They are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life.
Bold Equality Scholarship
Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion is essential to providing support in today’s society; in order to provide care/ support that meet the needs of the citizens, management and staff need to be aware of what the terms are and how they are put into practice in the working environment.
Equality is about treating individuals according to their needs, it is about providing individuals with equal opportunity whether it is documents in different formats or ensuring access to buildings for those with a disability to ensure the opportunity. Diversity can be described as difference , it is about acknowledging that everyone is different and an individual’s characteristics are what make them unique, examples include: Age, ability, appearance.
I welcome new people into my community and my life that can go a long way towards helping someone feel included. Making a point of engaging with my neighbors, friends and classmates enabled me to stay connected with the people around me— and that contributes to a world that values kindness and understanding over exclusion.
There are people who act in weird way or feel uncomfortable when they are around somebody. For example, people with disabilities sometimes find people staring at them, or looking away and acting as if they’re invisible. People from several racial and religious groups also find that people avoid them on the street, lock their car doors, or clutch their belongings as they walk by. Instead of avoiding eye contact or walking across the street,I engage with people as i normally do. When it’s appropriate, I include the individual in my conversation and would encourage others to engage in an open, inclusive manner.
Bold Great Minds Scholarship
Over time, there have been several people who have influenced various aspects of my life, based on their personal characteristics, accomplishments, and values. I have been privileged to have been able to learn about numerous heroes and professors who I respect for their patience and intelligence. There are artists that have inspired me by their natural talents and original creativity. I value many political leaders, who have inspired me by their contributions to society, and their ability to change our futures. Of all the people I have encountered in my life, the person I admire the most to my opinion is Nelson Mandela.
The life story of Nelson Mandela has long become a legend, a story that transcends race, borders, culture, or language. He is one of the greatest leaders to ever step foot on this Earth. He was willing to give up his own personal freedoms for the good of his people. Still, his decisions at major points in his lifetime hold lessons for individuals who are inspired of becoming good leaders. Many leaders are inspired by the actions and decision-makings abilities of Mandela. He kept the interest of others before his own.
As a young black man, there is no way I will avoid injustice, one thing Mandela taught me is that I should always stand up for myself even when the odds of winning are not in my favor.
While I attended my military high school, I led a company and truth be told it wasn’t an easy thing. However, the leadership skills and decision making skills I learnt from Mandela did make the whole process easy and made me feel confident.
Bold Creativity Scholarship
Since we are born we have imagination and as we grow up this imagination may increase or decrease. Creativity strongly relies in our imagination. Depending on different circumstances people learn to express their creativity openly while other people close themselves and believe they do not have creativity. Creativity is a natural talent that every single human has. Creativity can be used to solve a complex problem in a different manner or just to find innovative ways to have fun. Creativity is thinking out of the box.
Since we are kids we find new ways to deal with everyday life. We find different innovative forms to deal with everyday obstacles. Creativity lets us see the things that we thought did not make sense or were not there. Creativity happens in everyday life and it can be expressed and seen in different forms such as inventions like the smartphone, cars, and modern buildings or more artistic inventions like paintings, music, and TV shows.
I apply creativity in my life by doing something new or something old in a brand new way. As Picasso said “I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” I used to like drawing after school as a way to deal with my stress, and this was getting hard due to limited time. So, I started doing it right after the sunrises and definitely noticed a change in my life.
Bold Reflection Scholarship
Compared to many people in the world, I can say that my life hasn’t been too upsetting or harsh. Everyone eventually runs into some kind of speed bump in their path of life. Everyone faces some kind of problem everyday, whether it be something as small as spilling your coffee or as devastating as losing a loved one. Through these problems and struggles, I’ve learned many important life lessons. One thing I learnt in the course of my life, I’ve learned that silent company is often more healing than words of advice. It is better to just have a shoulder to lean on or just someone there to listen to you vent your bottled up emotions and feelings, rather than someone trying to blurt out every piece of peppy encouragement they can think of.
At 15 years old, i had the worst year in my life between dealing with my grand mother’s death and school issues. My mental state wasn’t in a good state, and on top of that my finals exams were nearby. With my friends, I managed to overcome the problems I had in my life. Although there are still some wounds, I’m grateful I made progress.
I personally believe that your ability to envision the future is strongly influenced by your memory for the past. That is, you tend to use memories of past experiences to predict what your life will be like in the future. It is easier to use your memories when the future you are predicting is close in time. If it wasn’t for what I had went through in my past, I wouldn’t know how to deal with mental problems. Furthermore, the experiences showed me the right people I can rely on in difficult times.
Bold Success Scholarship
A person needs to achieve certain goals in one's life before you can call them successful. Success is to achieve goals, you have set. I have set certain goals I would like to achieve in my lifetime. It is very important for me to receive a good education. To maintain a good job or get a job that will earn me enough for survival will require me to go thorough schooling or training and maybe even both. Education is the key to become successful, and I believe it is my most important goal. I grew up in family that values education; my father always taught me that with a degree you are much more worthy to an employer than a person with no education.
Secondly, Happiness is crucial to me because it is the key to success. Happiness leads to increased personal performance, a better chance of achieving your goals, more opportunities, less stress, and less potential for problems.
Success has been man’s greatest stimulus. It is very important for all. Success has great effect on life. It brings pleasure and pride. It gives a sense of fulfillment. It means all around development. Everybody aspires to be successful in life. But success comes to those who have a proper strategy, planning, vision and stamina. A proper and timely application of all these things is bound to bear fruit. One cannot be successful without cultivating certain basic things in life. It is very difficult to set out a journey without knowing one’s goals and destinations. Clarity of the objective is a must to succeed in life. A focused approach with proper planning is certain to bring success. Indecision and insincerity are big hindrance on the path to success.
Bold Technology Matters Scholarship
As an individual I’m committed to help the community and nations avoid road accidents and fatal injuries that happen occasionally. This is mostly due to driving under influence or just bluntly driving recklessly, a thing that is common in today’s teens. The ability to replace fully today’s cars to fully automated cars is what I would say I am most excited about and would love to be part of this. Although researchers have already embarked on this journey there are a few setbacks that aren’t bringing this cars fully on the roads. Autonomous cars use a broad set of sensors to see the environment around them, helping to detect objects such as pedestrians, other vehicles and road signs. These sensors detect objects, distance, speed and so on under all conditions and environments, without a human needing to intervene. Lousy weather, heavy traffic, roads signs with graffiti on them can all negatively impact the accuracy of sensing capability. For example, Radar, which Tesla uses, is less susceptible to adverse weather conditions, but challenges remain in ensuring that the chosen sensors used in a fully autonomous car can detect all objects with the required level of certainty for them to be safe. To enable truly autonomous cars, these sensors have to work in all weather conditions anywhere on the planet, from Alaska to Zanzibar and in congested cities such as Cairo and Hanoi. Accidents with Tesla’s current (only level 2) autopilot, including one in July 2020 hitting parked vehicles, show the company has a big gap to overcome to produce such a global, all-weather capability. Furthermore, at the moment there is no widely accepted and agreed basis for ensuring that the machine learning algorithms used in the cars are safe.
Since there are no regulations and standards, no self-driving car, whether considered to be safe or not, will make it on to the open road.
The benefits of automated vehicles, would be a tremendous benefit to this world we live in right now. Automation can help reduce the number of crashes on our roads. Government data identifies driver behavior or error as a factor in 94 percent of crashes, and self-driving vehicles can help reduce driver error.
