Black Students in STEM Scholarship
Growing up I listen to my dad talk about all the fun he and his brothers had growing up. He talk often about their experiences during the Christmas holidays. My dad said that any toy that glowed, smoked, moved or that made any sound, never made it to the next day. He and his brother just had to know what made the toy move like that or where did the sound come from. Dad shared with me his favorite Christmas toy story. It was when he had gotten a train set and the train engine had smoke coming out of the stack, He said once he and his brothers saw the smoke, that train was destined to be taken apart. By the end of Christmas day, dad said they had taken the train apart and they had discovered how the little train produced the smoke coming out of the stack, however, it never smoked again after they put it back together. My dad and his second oldest brother now both have STEM-related jobs. My dad has an Electronic Engineering degree and my uncle runs a computer lab at a major college.
Listening to all their STEM projects stories and helping my dad repair electronic equipment on occasions at his job has created a passion in me for STEM-related things. I am now getting ready to attend college and I plan to pursue an engineering degree. I am considering Electrical Engineering as my major in college. I get excited thinking about all the possibilities. I could end up working for some of America's top Electrical Engineering companies, maybe even NASA, or some of the new space-age industries. I would love to be on a team of Engineers designing the next greatest electrical power source, I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Maybe we will design a self-sustaining power source that produces free electrical power for everyone.
However, whatever field of study or career I end up in I know that somehow it will be STEM Related.
I cannot imagine not working in a job that is not in this area of study. I guess I can blame it on my dad and my uncles they always make science projects so much fun to do even when nothing worked right or there was an unexpected explosion. But it is because of the influence of my dad and my uncles that I had developed a passionate interest in STEM.
Bold Growth Mindset Scholarship
The book of Proverbs is an excellent source of wisdom. I love it, and one of my favorite verses comes from Proverbs 23:7. "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he". The writer uses the word heart when he is talking about the mind. The Bible uses these words interchangeably. Sometimes people say think with your mind, not your heart, in other words, do not make an emotional decision. This proverb, for me, is the key to keeping a growth mindset.
The author, of this proverb, states that what a person thinks in his heart, the mind so is he. In my opinion, the best way to have a good growth mindset one must control his or her thought life. What we think will shape who we are and who we will become. I believe this proverb is talking about having a positive mindset. I use the principles, taught in this verse to keep me with a healthy growth mindset. Knowing that what I think, what's going on inside my head, will ultimately lead to the person I become. Proverbs 23:7 is all about taking control of one's thoughts. The verse tells me that if I believe it in my mind I can succeed; in whatever I put my mind to, anything possible for me. Therefore, to keep a growth mindset, I live by the wise teaching of this Proverb to keep my mind growing in a way that will keep me grounded in the reality of who I am and who I am becoming.
Bold Success Scholarship
My future career goals start with me earning an Engineering degree. What would I do with an Engineering degree? As I approach the end of my senior year of High School, the question of what next has been on my mind a lot. My parents have been great supporters and I know that whatever I decide to do I can count on them to be there for me. I am excited and more than a little fearful about what happens next, money is one of my challenges in reaching my career goal. There are so many colleges to choose from and just as many areas of study. In the last couple of years of high school, I have thought of the different careers I may pursue and which one fits me best. I want to have the greatest training and preparation possible, and I believe that an Engineering degree will position me for success. A degree in Electrical Engineering can open doors in many different areas of industry for me. I may find myself working as an Electrical Technician with some of our nation’s biggest power companies, or maybe even working for NASA someday. However, no matter where I land in my career I know that having a college degree will play a big role in just getting my foot in the door of whatever area of Electrical Engineering I end up pursuing. With this degree, I will be able to compete and excel in building a life where I can be the best me I can be. With an Engineering degree, I can become a productive member of America’s growing industry in Electrical Engineering. College, and getting an Engineering degree is the path I have choosen to achieve success, and this scholarship would help get me on the way.
Bold Friendship Matters Scholarship
Friendship, I cannot imagine not having a friend. I look forward to being with my friends every chance I get. Having friends is like enjoying my favorite chocolate bar relaxing and watching a great movie, it feels so good. Friendships help me get through a hard day at school when I did not do my best on a test, and my friend encourages me, simply by saying, you will do better next time. Even when I disappoint my friends or we have a disagreement it is great when we work out our differences and it is like nothing ever happened, it is the best kind of relationship. Next to having a great mom and dad friendships with others is something I would find impossible to live without. So what does friendship mean to me, it is having someone you can count on when life kicks you in the gut and you hate yourself and want to give up on living and then your friend calls or come by and says you are going to be OK we still have each other and all is right with the world again. Friendships are my life support systems I can not live without them. Friendship to me is like, "American Express don't leave home without it", friends don't leave home without them.

Austin Kramer Music-Maker Scholarship
The type of music I'm interested in are beats. I first got into music at around age seven listening and watching the Animusic videos. I get inspired to make them by listening to Hip hop and artists who make beats. My favorite type of beats to make are piano type beats. I came up with the idea to create this beat while listening to one on YouTube. The one I listened to sounded extremely good so I wanted to make a beat like that one but with my own spin.
