Bio

As a Graphic Design major, my life goals are to work for a fashion magazine or a clothing line. I would like to use my capabilities to create aesthetically pleasing content, whether it is booking photoshoots, making magazine spreads, or even write a few articles. I am passionate about making my mark in the fashion industry. I know it seems a little big-headed, but I do love fashion. I love how you can express yourself with your clothes. I love how my major can be incorporated with fashion, creating clothes, taking pictures of clients, and expressing my thoughts through an interview. I believe that I am a great candidate because all my life, all I have known was hard work. Getting where I am at now has not been an easy task. Being on my own for 10 years has taught me a lot about myself and my work ethic. I am a strong-headed person who works hard to get what she wants. I also would like to show my son that the sky is the limit if you just push yourself and think outside of the box.

    Minority Student Art Scholarship
Hi, My name is Jhatiana McMurrin. I'm currently a sophomore at Elizabeth City State University, majoring in Graphic Design. Picking Graphic Design as my major will allow me to have a versatile foundation that can translate into all kinds of work. While at ECSU, I have learned how to design a magazine layout, create holiday greeting cards from scratch, to learning photography, and sharpening my learning abilities when it comes to art history. All of which are essential to me. My dream is to work for a fashion magazine or a clothing line. I would like to use my capabilities to create aesthetically pleasing content, whether it's booking photoshoots, making magazine spreads, or even write a few articles. Going to school was the best decision I have ever made. I like that ECSU has so many art classes to provide for its students and broadening our horizons. I also appreciate my professors for believing in me and giving me constructive criticism when necessary. With this degree, I would like to be able to wake up and go to work and be in love with what I do and be able to provide for me and my 2-year-old son. I hope that I do get picked for this scholarship. Thank you for taking the time to read my essay.
