Bio

I am a first-generation Indigenous Hispanic-American , and I will be the first in my family to attend college. I am a person who has a strong intellectual curiosity. I believe that it is very crucial for me to stay engrossed in school and life. Because I was always interested in learning anything and everything, I became very active in my school. I joined a variety of clubs and took on various leadership positions. As a dedicated student, I strive to fuel my intellectual curiosity by seeking information about any subject and thinking of how to apply it to the real world. I am always determined to gain new knowledge, and I spend my free periods and time after school trying new things. Doing well is something I have always had a craving for; for both my satisfaction and for my community. At a young age, I had the desire to affect positive change for my community. To help my community, I started volunteering at local schools. I have also helped several families by teaching them English, how to write, and how to help their children with their schoolwork. In the future, I wish to further help my community by becoming an immigration lawyer. Many people don’t receive the proper representation, and I know that I could be the voice for those who are not heard because of their legal status. My dream of becoming a lawyer can only be completed by having a college education, but it can be a financial burden. If I were to receive an award, I would use it towards my college education to one day bring justice to those living in fear of deportation.
