My plans for the future are to be not only the first person in my family to attend college but also the first to graduate college. I plan to apply to UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, NC State, and UNC Asheville, all of which I will focus on getting a bachelor's degree in the computer science field. I hope to be accepted into either NC State or UNC Charlotte for those are the schools I want to get into the most and both have some concentration in game design, which is the work field I'm most interested in. Game design has always been a passion of mine ever since I first started playing games and over time it has grown so much with the opportunities available to me to make my games. The focus I have in game design would be level design or sound effects/FX, which both UNC Charlotte and NC State have some form of level design or a game design course that I could take. After I earn my bachelor's degree in computer science I will set out to find a job in the game design field. The computer science degree will be used as an umbrella degree to allow me more opportunities in the job field of game design. This scholarship will help me because it will allow me to pay off expenses in college that I would instead have to take out loans for or pay out of pocket. My family is on the low-income scale when it comes to paying for college so many different opportunities aren’t available to me that would be for other people. But I don't let that get me down in any way and instead, I strive to do the best I can in my school work and classes so I can show who I am when it comes to academics. The scholarship would also help me save up more money that I could put towards college or something else to benefit my learning or just me as a person. It has been a long and stressful journey to get where I am today, and I have been molding myself into the computer science degree and game design field with all the different classes that I have taken. These classes have allowed me to create my games on many different scales and learn the inner workings of what makes a game a game. So I hope that I will be able to continue on this path of computer science and achieve my goal with a career in a field that I love and want to learn more about.

In an increasingly complex world, the interplay between leadership and science is pivotal in determining our future. As we face pressing global challenges such as climate change, public health crises, and technological disruptions, the need for visionary leadership combined with scientific expertise has never been more critical. Leadership serves as the compass that guides societies through uncertainty. Effective leaders inspire action and cultivate a shared vision that aligns individual and collective goals. They possess the ability to mobilize communities, build coalitions, and navigate the intricacies of governance. This is particularly evident in the context of global issues like climate change, where strong leadership is essential to forge international agreements and encourage sustainable practices. Leaders who prioritize transparency, inclusivity, and ethical decision-making foster trust and collaboration, which are vital in rallying public support for science-based initiatives. Science, in contrast, offers the empirical knowledge and technological innovations that underpin progress. Scientific research enables us to understand the complexities of the natural world, assess risks, and develop solutions to contemporary problems. For instance, advancements in renewable energy technologies are crucial for mitigating climate change, while breakthroughs in medical science are vital for addressing health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The collaboration between scientists and leaders can accelerate these advancements, ensuring that research is not only innovative but also accessible and applicable to real-world challenges. The synergy between leadership and science fosters a culture of informed decision-making. Leaders who embrace scientific findings can create policies grounded in evidence, enhancing the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at societal improvement. This relationship is essential in public health, where data-driven strategies are critical for disease prevention and health promotion. Effective leaders who listen to scientists can make timely decisions that save lives and enhance well-being. Moreover, the future is increasingly reliant on technological advancements that hinge on scientific progress. Leaders who understand and leverage these technologies can drive economic growth, enhance education, and improve overall quality of life. By prioritizing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, leaders prepare future generations to navigate an evolving landscape and contribute to societal advancement. In conclusion, the interplay between leadership and science is vital for shaping a sustainable and equitable future. As we confront global challenges, leaders must harness scientific knowledge to inform their decisions, creating pathways for innovation and resilience. The collaboration between these two spheres will ultimately determine how effectively we can navigate the complexities of our world and ensure a better future for all.

I am not afraid to try new things or participate in events that may be new to me. I feel like I have always been this way ever since I could remember I would want to join my friends in an activity that may be new to me or try a new food or even a new style. I was never afraid of anything not to give it a swing no matter what it may be. This has allowed me to put myself out there on a scale that I resonate with and understand and I feel it has helped me make more friends and find closer friends throughout my life. These friends are reliable people that I know I can trust no matter what and recently I had some of them help me with my Eagle Scout Project for my local community town center. Cause without their help I wouldn't have been able to complete my project in time for me to get my Eagle Scout Rank. But even without working on my Eagle Scout Project, I have given back to my community in many ways, whether it be through scouting or school. Being a member of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has allowed me access to many different service opportunities to give back to my community. Be it a Christmas party for the blind with the Lions Club, picking up trash on the side of the road, helping another scout with their Eagle Project, beautifying an area for a community, sorting presents for the Salvation Army Christmas Angel Tree, or helping a church revamp their garden area. No matter what it may be these opportunities have allowed me to grow as a person and find out that I love giving back to my community and being involved in it. At my school, I'm in several clubs that give back to our community in different ways like walks to raise money, litter pick-ups, ringing the bell at Christmas time, or appreciation for faculty at my school. I have so much access to so many different ways to get involved in my community that it can be a little overwhelming at times but nonetheless, I love every minute of it. My parents are divorced and share dual custody so I rotate between houses every other week, and neither one is at an amazing financial state. Both are considered middle class but in no way have the money or means to pay for me to go to college, let alone one full semester of college. So to be able to stay enrolled in the college of my choice then I'm gonna have to work for all the extra help I can get to pay for it. In the BSA we take a course every year on cyberbullying and how it affects someone and what we can do to combat it. This course level differs depending on the grade you are in but it helps you get a better understanding of cyberbullying throughout different grade levels and ages. I find it best to practice what these videos say in my day-to-day life so I can help others be educated on the subject as well. I find it's also valuable to use my personal experiences with bullying and explain how it affected me at a young age and in some cases still affects me to this day. But in the end, I try my best to be a source for people to go to with their problems or struggles and I want others to feel that I am there to help them.
