Bio

My goal in life is to be an art teacher. I have always had a passion for visual arts as I was working toward achieving this goal when covid hit and the college I was attending stopped face to face. At the time I was unable to access my class online. Sadly, I had to leave college due to this circumstance and I just focused on working. Since then, I have been blessed with a beautiful baby boy and an amazing husband. I recently started giving thought to wanting to go back to college and finish my degree in art and general education. So, I took the leap, applied to a local community college, and got accepted! I feel like I would be a wonderful candidate because, once I put my mind to something I don’t stop until it is achieved and done to the best of my ability. I have a love for art more than anything. I want to be able to show kids how to express themselves through art as I grew up in a very unstructured household where we constantly moved around. But there was one thing that always stayed with me and helped me through my emotion no matter how I felt and that was ART. I really hope you consider me for your scholarship as being a new mom and the cost of living in today’s time is very challenging financially and adding a college tuition in would be an extra burden to me and my husband. I appreciate your time and considering me as a candidate.

The term "art" is really just a label. Everyone reacts to art differently and has the potential to grow and learn from it. But it's the artist that shows the meaning to art. For me art is an escape from the world around me. Whenever there is something unpleasant going on in my life, I always tend to grab a pencil, paper, and draw. I love drawing because I love seeing the look on people's face when I gift them a drawing and hearing "you are beyond talented" or "you need to do something with this talent". When I graduated high school in 2018, I went to college to pursue a career as an art teacher. I was blessed to qualify for financial aid. Sadly, COVID hit, and I couldn't maintain a full-time job and remain in college full time online. So, I had to make the tough decision to drop my classes and just focus on working and making money. Since then, I have married and been blessed with a beautiful baby boy. Now having my son, I have decided to go back to school, complete my degree, and teach what I love. Unfortunately, since I dropped my classes in 2019, I am no longer eligible for finical aid. Now I have to pay for college out of pocket or take out a loan. As you may know with today's times and how the world is, it is financially hard for anyone to pay bills, gas, food, childcare, and try to put money away for that "rainy day". With this scholarship I could go back to college, complete my degree, and not have to stress financially about my husband and child. I really hope you consider me for this scholarship. Thank you for this opportunity to apply.

Since then, I have been blessed with a beautiful baby boy and an amazing husband. I recently started giving thought to wanting to go back to college and finish my degree in art and general education. I am always drawing portraits for people in my community and constantly being told I have an amazing talent and need to do something with it. Due to my age and going so long since attended school, I always felt like it was too late for me to pursue having a career teaching art. Since having my son, I have had a completely different view on life, and I wanted to do this to teach my son and other kids to follow their dreams no matter their age or circumstance. So, I took the leap, applied to a local community college, and got accepted! Honestly, I have been so much happier since doing this and following through with my dream that I don't know why I waited so long to go back to school in the first place. I feel like I would be a wonderful candidate because, once I put my mind to something I don’t stop until it is achieved and done to the best of my ability. I have a love for art more than anything. Art has made me who I am and without it I have no doubt that I wouldn't be the person I am today. My childhood was unpleasantly rough. We were moving constantly, and I was always wondering what mood my mom was going to be in every day. Always scared to even stay or do anything around her fearful of what punishment would come if I did. Through all my hardships growing up I have always had my escape from the world which was art. I am a grown woman now that has learned how to express and turn my emotion and thoughts into artwork. I want to become an art teacher so I can teach kids how to express themselves through art and teach them the fundamentals that come along with it, while also being able to do what drives me on a daily basis. I really hope you consider me for your scholarship as being a new mom and the cost of living in today’s time is very challenging financially and adding a college tuition in would be an extra burden to me and my husband but, that will not stop me from becoming someone who can teach young kids the amazing capability art can have on one's soul.
