My life goals are to graduate from a 4-year college and become a future statistician in either health care, insurance, or sports. I hope to have a high paying successful job that makes me self-independent. I am most passionate about my future job and how it will encourage other young women to pursue a STEM major. I am a great candidate because I am a respectful, responsible, and hard-working young women who pushes herself to be the best she can be for herself and others around her.

    Learner Education Women in Mathematics Scholarship
    Ever since the beginning of my time in Preschool till now, I have had a deep passion for mathematics. Whenever someone would ask me, "What's your favorite subject?", my immediate answer is always math. I have never been a fan of reading or doing science experiments or learning about world history. Although I may be good at these types of things, it just never my level of interest. But math was the only thing I knew I would want to continue beyond my academic career. From doing math excels to completing complex math equations, I have always just enjoyed the feeling of problem-solving. It gave me the opportunity to work with others from different levels of intelligence. During my senior year in high school, we got to work more on graphing data within excel by taking a topic of interest. Mine was the University of Connecticut Women's Basketball Team Height vs. Blocks. I had the opportunity to compare these two types of data and how they correlate. After having this specific assignment, I knew it grew my interest more with the love of finding statistics and solving math problems. I love the idea that there is only one answer that I have to figure out in order to solve the problem. Although there may be times where I struggle to comprehend the question, I end figuring out what I need to do in the end. The excitement and thrill of being in an environment where math is the only thing we learn about, allows me to truly know that what we are learning is allowing me to pursue what I want to do in the future. The principles of mathematics have shaped my understanding of the world by giving me the knowledge that the entire world is made up of mathematics. Everything has an angle and/or measurement that make up a certain object. With our everyday use, we use money which involves us having to add, subtract, divide and multiply. Money just can't be given out without understanding how much is being taken away or being given. The knowledge of mathematics has allowed me to understand that math has an important part in our world today. Without revolutionizing women into a male-prominent field, we would be stuck in a boring and unequal society. I believe that my position in the STEM field makes me feel important and I get to have the opportunity to change the world. In the future, my plan is to graduate from a 4-year college and have a degree in mathematics with a minor in statistics and computer science.

    Throughout my years in high school, I have been someone who loves the art of doing math and trying to figure out complex questions. Every year, when the beginning of the school year starts, I always tried to select a math course that was on the "medium to hard" scale. During my junior high and high school career, I have done the following math courses: algebra 1 & 2, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, statistics, and the ACT. Each of the math classes had its ups and downs but overall it has advanced my knowledge and has helped me prepared for what is to come in college and my future career. Currently, in my senior year, I am taking college probability and statistics. We had several options to pick on what math class we wanted to do for our final year of high school, I chose something that was on the "medium to hard" scale. I knew this was going to be the best for me because in the future I want to be a statistician. I had a love for pursuing math in the future and putting all my time and energy into this one subject was the right decision. In college, the math subject I would like the most assistance on is statistics because if I am going to be a statistician, I need to make sure I have all my facts straight to succeed. Geometry was the toughest subject I had ever done but I don't believe I will need to use it at all. During the year I was learning geometry, I did have a math tutor who would help me. Math tutoring will help me in the future by pushing me to the best of my ability and encourage me to do better in the future.
