Bio

I'm a former military member, with nearly a decade of experience in the USAF. I left the military because I became a service disabled combat veteran. Until recently, I had my own business, but with COVID having happened, I have taken this opportunity to reskill with an eye towards Cybersecurity and Forensics.

Gabriella Carter Failure Doesn't Define Me Scholarship
I admit, at times, I may be a tad particular and hard-headed. In one of my previous organizations had a particular program to handle a mandatory, daily task each and every section head had to accomplish prior to the pot of caffeinated gruel properly assimilating in one's bloodstream. This, naturally, is a prime time for mild irritants to become barriers to life's continued existence. One was expected to achieve this daily, morning task without a single incident of maiming or death. Difficult to do. One of these, horrid mornings, I decided I had had enough. The program in question was far too old, slow, and annoying to be allowed to continue to endure. I'd had a programming class in HS; I've used a computer; this is only made using a Microsoft product; how hard could it be? Well, after three dedicated weeks of dissection, I had identified so many band-aid solutions, different languages, macros, spaghetti code, and else I was astounded it had been functional in its task for the previous two decades. It was clear, I was in over my head. Thankfully, MS Office had just released a ground-up redesign of its database program, and Microsoft's training is free. I spent roughly three millimeters of bone in my skull from the head-to-desk "brainstorming" sessions on how to completely redesign a mobile, semi-sentient dumpster fire I had so intelligently vowed to leadership to fix. I believe this translates to roughly nine weeks of time, and nearly three years of sane brain function. --BUT; failure! What? Did you think this story had a happy ending? I was crushed. I worked hard; I promised long; I bet big; I gambled my good name; put it all on the line; sacrificed to the elder gods; and only half-fixed a whole lot of problems. My superiors were joyful; I had been fired. So, in other words, they were jaded...jaundiced? Jacka--- AHEM! Long story short, I no longer work there. BUT! I've decided to use this opportunity to reskill! The small bit of learning I did for that dumb application, was actually kind of fun. I got accepted to a cyber security program at my university, and have changed my career path completely. I've already completed a week, and can't wait to see what the future has in store!
