I am currently a Senior at Spanish River Community High School preparing to continue my education at the collegiate level. I intend to pursue a Bachelor in Aeronautical Science or Aeronautical Engineering to help me reach my dreams of becoming a professional pilot. I am aiming to commit to a University that gives me the best training and opportunity to enter the profession that keeps today's world functioning. When I was younger, I found airplanes to be fascinating. I saw pilots to be the heroes of the skies, out of reach for someone like me and where I grew up. As I’m getting older though, the reality of becoming a pilot is becoming more and more in reach. After surrounding myself with the right people and environment, my determination to reach my dreams has never been stronger and I know I am able to make them come true. Before moving to Florida, I had no intention of continuing my education to college because of the environment I was surrounded by growing up. Kids my age and even most of the adults I knew at the time had no interest in attending college, being born and raised around that mindset was the only thing I knew. After moving in 2021, my thoughts changed and I wanted more for myself. I didn’t want to end up like my friends and family that had no realistic goal, so I decided to change my mindset and commit to be the first of my family's generation to attend a four year university. When I made that decision, I put in the effort and started to research degrees and the possibilities of becoming a pilot in Florida. Constantly, people tell me that college isn't needed or that college is a waste of time, those are the people that give me motivation to keep pushing everyday. I want to attend college to give me the education, training, and help me stand out from my peers in the future. I plan on learning everything I need to know in the span of 4 years to be able to continue on to the airlines that give me the best opportunity. Although that might seem like my end goal, I will continue on and work my way through the airlines to work for a major airline. It is well known that becoming a Professional Pilot isn’t very cheap and this causes many future pilots to give up on their dreams too early. I am currently working a part-time job to help pay for my education and I plan on continuing this throughout my collegiate career. I know it may be difficult to maintain a steady flow of income because I will be spending so much time on my schoolwork. This scholarship would help offset some of the costs and reduce some of the workload overall. While I still work part-time throughout the semesters and full-time in the summers, having extra financial aid would greatly reduce stress and make it possible to attend college. I look forward to a future where I can use the educational and financial opportunities given to me to strive in the aviation industry and become one of the top pilots in my class. I plan to move on, after receiving my degree, to a regional airline and begin the long journey ahead of me to make it to the major airlines. I have a clear picture of where I will be in the next 10 years, and I know this scholarship will make it possible
