My name is Janiyah Salisbury. I am an 18-year-old girl who lives in New York. I'm currently trying to get an education in Pre-Med/ Nursing. I am a hard-working student who studies every other night. I'm working towards getting scholarships so I can go to an affordable college. I'm a go-getter, independent, dependable, and a mature scholar who completes work. I hope to get multiple scholarships to support my dreams of becoming a nurse.

My name is Janiyah Salisbury, and I am an 18-year-old high school senior from New York City. I have been applying to multiple scholarships on Bold.org to help increase my chances of being able to go to college without worrying about being in large amounts of debt after I graduate from college. I've applied to over 30 scholarships, hoping I will be able to get enough money to put myself through medical school; every time I apply for a scholarship, I pray that I will win or at least get enough money to be able to lower my tuition. I want to be a Nurse. I'm trying hard to get enough scholarships to pay off my tuition. I've wanted to be a nurse since I was seven years old due to family issues and illnesses I had to face. My Grandfather passed away due to skin cancer. He was my best friend. We did everything together. I used to visit him in the hospital every day because I wanted to see how much better he was getting, and then he died; I felt hopeless and upset that I could not do anything to help him. A Few years later, I lost my Grandmother due to heart disease; she was the main person trying to help me when my grandfather died. I was lost. I was upset about two of the most influential people in my life dying when I was just a child. I wish I had done more for them. From then on, I studied my most challenging and focused in school to pursue my dream of becoming a Nurse. I want to help those who need help. I want to try my best to help people's family members so they don't have to go through what I went through as a child. This scholarship will help me pursue my dream of becoming a nurse because I want to try my best to help people. When I used to visit my grandparents in the hospital, I used to have great conversations with their doctors. I would ask questions, and they would answer in-depth, and they would always have interesting stories about why they became a doctor and what they had to do to become a doctor. I was so interested in their stories that, to this day, they made me realize I wanted to be a doctor. I hope to be well known for being a great nurse and a great help to my patients. I want to help my community, for example, I would like to open a clinic for people who don't have health insurance because I want to help people who are in need of medical care.
