Bio

In five to ten years I see myself completed with college and becoming a successful athletic trainer for a professional sports' team. Ever since I was a little girl, I've always been interested in sports and helping people. So this would be a dream come true to help people do the things they love. I'm a great candidate because out of all the years I've been in school, I've continued to push myself to be a hardworking student, even when things got complicated. I will continue to do so in college with the help of these scholarships.

    "What Moves You" Scholarship
"Trust the process". Ever since I was a young girl I remember hearing that quote and it has stuck with me since then. I continue to believe in those words no matter what, even if I'm having a hard day. If you want something in life you have to be willing to work hard for it and trust that it will happen. "Trust the process" doesn't mean just sitting back and doing nothing and hoping it will work out. No! You have to be willing to put in the work and do your part to make whatever you want happen. It also means having to think positively, which is something I consistently do. Whenever I'm going through a tough day or a tough couple of days I take the time I need to feel that, but I remember that it's not always going to be like this and I need to "trust the process" and see the bigger picture. That quote and a positive way of thinking have really gotten me to where I am today. Since my freshman year of high school, I have been working hard to accomplish getting good grades and knowing that it will all be worth it. My number one goal right now is to get into college and continue getting a great education so I can become an athletic trainer for a professional sports team. And that's what I'm going to, but I have to continue to "trust the process", even if it doesn't go exactly as planned.
    Future Black Leaders Scholarship
Before I moved to Missouri I use to help my step father's mason group with feeding the homeless on Sundays. We would go to a park in Savannah, Georgia and set up a line of tables filled with necesseties. My sister, step sisters, and I would either hand out food, water, or things like deoderant. Since I've moved to Missouri i've started working. I work at the Comissary on base bagging groceries and taking them out to customers cars. I also worked at an ice scream shop for a few months scooping ice cream, working the cashier, and the window. Aditionally, I shadow at a local physical therapy facility so I can get an idea of what its like in the career I want to persue. This scholarship along with others will really help out becuase my mom is not able to pay to put me through college. Since I was a child, my mom has consistently worked two jobs at the same time while providing for me and my sister. Along with getting her bachelors degree. A year ago she joined the Air Force to further provide for me and my sister and I will always be grateful for her sacrifices. After graduating high school I wanna go to college and major in kinesiology to become an athletic trainer for a profssional sports team. Later, I would like to open my own facility full of trainers and physcial therpaists to treat all athletes from different ages.
    Impact Scholarship for Black Students
I'm Jamaya Collins, daughter of a hardworking mother who's showed me continuously what courage and determination is. Since I was young, I've always dreamed of becoming a successful person doing anything that made me happy. My goal is to go to college in the fall of 2021 for four years and study kinesiology. For years now, I have imagined myself becoming an athletic trainer for a professional sport's team. Like my mom, I'm determined to put in a tremendous amount of work to get my goals accomplished and even more! So far I've started working two jobs to help my mom in any way possible with college fees. I've always taken school seriously but I've been working harder to get even better grades. Even while playing sports all throughout high school. All these extracurriculars have taught me how to manage my time and stay focused on the bigger goal. After living out my dream career as an athletic trainer I hope to one day open my own facility full of trainers and physical therapists. My facility would be open to all athletes, young and older, where we would help them get better and back to playing the sport they love.
    Simple Studies Scholarship
When I attend college in the fall of 2021 I know I want to study kinesiology. When I was in the eighth grade I sprained my ACL playing soccer, then again my freshman year. After injuring my knee I had to go through months of physical therapy and I really bonded with my therapists. Later in my sophomore year, I came to the conclusion that I would really want to do something like this for my future career. I want to become an athletic trainer for a professional sports team one day. After doing that for a while, I would want to own my own facility with therapists and trainers working there helping all athletes get better.
