Harry D Thomson Memorial Scholarship
Dear Scholarship Committee;
My name is Jaime Tryder and I am currently a Senior at Amesbury High school. I plan to pursue a field of Engineering at a four-year university. During my search for scholarships, I had come across the Harry D Thomson Memorial Scholarship and felt personally obligated to apply for my high efforts in my high school career.
Starting high school I had maintained a GPA of higher than 3.5, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and my GPA plummeted my sophomore year to 2.5. As a thriving, driven individual, I was determined to rise above my expectations and have maintained a GPA above 3.5 accounting for my Junior and Senior years as of now.
My parents are divorced and I live part-time with each, both earning different incomes. Ever since I was eligible for a job, I have not only maintained employment at different locations but also gained experience working in different fields. Throughout the years and three different jobs, I was able to gain work experience in customer service, money handling, cleaning maintenance, organizational skills, and animal care.
I intend to push myself past my limits in college applying to major in Engineering and minor in Business. I am applying for this scholarship because I have raised above my expectations by getting back on my feet after the pandemic and dealing with mental illnesses that dragged me down significantly. I not only have picked myself back up, but I also proved my worth.
It would be greatly appreciated if considered for this scholarship and I appreciate the time and efforts made to read my application.
Sincerely,
Jaime Tryder
