From an early age, I always excelled in my academic pursuits. It was evident to my mom, after seeing me fly through novels in a day, that school was my thing. She always told me that my job was to get good grades and her job was everything else.
I am a grade A overachiever and try my best to do everything to my fullest potential. Balancing school life, as soon as I turned 15, I was told it was time to start looking for jobs. Since my sophomore year of high school, I have held a job continuously from Sushi 99 to Winn Dixie, after my first job closed because of the pandemic, to now holding two jobs my senior year of high school working at Publix and Jeremiahs Italian Ice. While I sometimes struggle between school and work and question why I can't be like the others who don't have to work, I know in the end my effort will teach me more powerful lessons than ever.
While my drive to go to college is for future success, my main determination is to be able to provide for and make the people who raised me proud. My mother and father divorced when I was 2 years old, so my mother became both roles. She is the strongest most independent woman I know. Coming from a much more disadvantaged background than me and her experience as a Veteran, her attitude and determination has proved to me overall, that I must work hard for what I want. The woman I call my mother has done nothing but sacrifice and work hard to raise me to be the best person I can be, and nothing more would make her proud than seeing me go on to college to achieve more than what she could.

Everyone's family has a little bit of crazy, including mine. My mom has been my rock since the day I was born, my mother is my father. Since the earliest age I can remember, she has always told me that my job was school and her job was everything else, I took that to heart. She knew I was born with the talent for learning, a brain she could never comprehend containing. But my brain isn't the only thing that has gotten me this far. The most important factor was the determination and independence my mom instilled in me from an early age. It was her job to make sure that I would be more successful than she ever was, that was her duty as a mother. My mom knew college wasn't her thing, but the Army was just that thing that would change her future and forever teach her the most valuable life changing lessons that created the mother I have now. She was out of the house and living on her own at 17, at 18 she was enlisted in the Army and her journey to find herself began. I will be forever thankful for her experiences, as without them I wouldn't be the person I am. She once told me (probably more than once) that if I wasn't going to college at 18, I'd have to be in the military, and we all knew I wasn't cut out for that, so college was my choice. School is my niche and my mother would make sure I excelled. There is nothing more in this world that would make her prouder than to see me going to university and walking across the stage graduating from Florida State (our most beloved school) and it was my goal to do just that. From the start of my high school career I have been thinking about the moment I can tell my mom I finally made it, and that moment has come. My mother is the most hardworking person I know, a true role model who does everything in her power to make sure our family is happy and healthy. The scholarship offer at hand would bring my dreams for myself and my mothers dreams for me one step closer, a truly life changing opportunity to shape my future too.
Lillian's & Ruby's Way Scholarship
I have never liked to be told what to do. So, from a very young age, I knew I wanted to be my own boss and know how to handle my money efficiently enough to be able to do the things I yearn to do, such as travel to foreign places and spoil myself and my family with all of the things we once dreamed of. My family is the basis for everything I am, and there is nothing more that I want to do than to make my family proud and to support them like they have been with me for so long.
I am the most competitive person I know, always wanting to be a step ahead and never being completely satisfied with what I have, as I know I can always do better. Finance, business, economics, and money, in general, has always been of great interest to me. I want to be the one to be financially educated and responsible and know how to handle business. Being an overall businesswoman, while that's loosely defined to me, has always had a spot in my brain as I know I am capable of being the independent boss girl my mother has created. I have an aching desire within myself to become something so much bigger than a nine to five job, I want to be able to explore the world and my passions all while working for myself and creating a life I love to live. I believe pursuing a career in the business field as well as finance and understanding the way money and the world work will allow me a full advantage in achieving my goals.
There are so many avenues I can venture down in the business world, and I feel as though my personality and the morals I have been taught can push me to become my most successful and influential self. Choosing to further educate myself in the world of money is an option I feel is the best fit for the desires and opportunities I can see myself taking part in. Like most people, I want the nice car and the nice house and the nice purses, but most importantly, I want the feeling of knowing that I was successful enough to achieve my biggest dreams and that my final point in my career would satisfy me more than anything else. While venturing into the realm of business and finance and wherever my career leads me, I know that with these opportunities, I will be able to build a life for myself that I love to live, and wouldn't want to trade for the world.

Pouring my heart and soul into a mixing bowl to create baked delicacies of my own has been a hobby since the youngest age I can remember. Struggling with eating my entire life, being able to bake and create sweets for people to indulge in has filled a space in my head to avoid the struggles of daily life. My inspiration, coming from my favorite show, Cupcake Wars, has inspired me to bake from scratch, ranging from pies to macaroons to truffles, enabling my mind to drift away from my racing thoughts and anxieties over what the day is going to bring. The sweet aroma drifting from my sturdy oven releases a different type of endorphin I could never fathom explaining. Loving to bake has made not only my life easier, but it has also allowed me to connect with other people, as food is my love language. Baking and gifting these sweets has allowed me to express my love for not only the receiver of my goods but for the act of baking as well. Not only am I able to enjoy my creations, but I can also take a sense of pride in what I am capable of doing. Baking can be a challenge at times, but more than anything else, it has taught me to be more patient and consistent, requiring effort and a baker's touch to create the treats begging to be created in my mind. Baking is a hobby that has created a major influence in my life and has allowed me to better manage myself and my goals.
