Lynn Welding Next Generation in Welding Scholarship
Since day one I have always enjoyed using my hands and creating different things. I love the satisfaction of finishing a project and taking home fun memories with it. Welding is a career path of great interest to me not only for the money or the great benefits but also for the knowledge and experience that comes along too. My first thought of welding came when the Lincoln Tech recruiter presented to my school all the different career paths they had to offer. This meeting sparked my interest in welding and ultimately led me to enroll at the college. I never once would have thought that someday I would go to school to become a welder or even go to a trade school but that's where my path has led me. I feel another guiding factor for me going into this field is that my family has always wanted and inspired me to work hard. Welding for me represents just that, putting forth a great effort at what I'm doing every day and being happy with the results. I believe welding plays a very important role in today's society for many different reasons. First, welding is a huge resource in the construction industry and helps contribute to the building of many types of buildings, cars, heavy equipment, etc. Welding helps the construction of different things go by much smoother and quicker and without it, the building of steel rafters, beams, or even products manufactured for the automotive industry wouldn't be possible. Secondly, welding contributes to things like agriculture. Welders are sent out to help farmers with the repairs of farm equipment like plows, combines, and tractors. Welding can be implemented in so many different areas that it's a complete necessity to society. Without the usage of welding, we would have a very hard time making difficult tasks easier. Finally, Welding creates an environment of safety and security. If the use of welding was removed from the construction of buildings would the last as long? Would commercial buildings be possible to build? Welding is so important though it may be a career that is so underlooked. Most people don't like the idea of a job that requires hands-on labor or somewhere they can get their shoes dirty but those are the types of people that we need to keep our society rolling. Welding was never something that reached my mind on any day of the week and now I believe I found my career. I'm ready to contribute to the importance of this career path and give my best every single day while doing it.
