I believe my ambition and drive to meet my goals inspire others to pursue their dreams. Most simply hope to graduate high school and get a job, but my focus on pressing on can inspire others to never stay satisfied with minimal achievement, but to reach for new heights. I come from a difficult background and have faced many adversities in my life. I was born into a household shaken by alcohol and substance abuse. I lived in that situation for close to nine years before I got adopted into a loving home. With a safe environment graciously given to me, I could start focusing on my education, rather than worrying about my safety. Through the adversities I learned the value of persistence. I use the adversities I've faced to drive me towards my goals. I have come to realize that anyone can become something in this world with a little perseverance. I want to become a symbol that you can become someone great no matter where you come from.I am determined to make an impact on this world that will last. I want to be remembered for doing something great and I'm ready to start making that dream a reality. My first is to get my bachelors in computer science. My dream is to use my love and passion for science to make a positive impact. My personal passion is game development. I want to branch out and explore other interests as well such as photoshop,web development,AI engineering,and anything new that can push me past my limits. I have chosen to pursue a computer science major while I'm in college, and I've chosen it because I have a passion for computers and technology as a whole and understanding how and why computers work the way they do fascinates me. My name is Jackson Stepter-Charles, and I am an incoming senior at Bradford High School in Starke, FL. Solving difficult problems brings me great joy and a sense of accomplishment unlike anything else I know. In my pre-calculus honors class this past year, despite the course's difficulty and demanding teacher, I loved the class for its challenging yet rewarding nature, but also for forcing me to think outside the box. As a result of my hard work, I came out achieving an A, showing myself that with a little dedication, success in anything difficult is not only possible, but feasible. My love for math blossomed first when I discovered variables. I went from simple operations to complex problem-solving using equations. I was so intrigued as I began to notice the diversity in math. That diversity still fascinates me to this day. My life mission is to utilize my passion and knowledge of mathematics and science, so I can leave the world a better place than I found it. Specifically, by programming world changing applications. The real-world applications of math are vast and fascinating, and that's what I love about math. I am frequently using math to solve problems and add mechanics to my programs. For example, adding realistic physics to a rocket ship in a game requires math. Programming anything in itself is rewarding enough, but using math for problem solving adds an extra sense of accomplishment when you get it right. Receiving this scholarship would significantly support my educational journey as it would help me further my passion for STEM in college.
