      Anthony Bruder Memorial Scholarship
"Stay true to yourself and listen to your inner voice. It will lead you to your dream." Every day either on the golf course or having a busy normal day I always strive to get better with my academics, community service, and sports. I want to become a role model for others when showing sportsmanship after a golf match or being respectful to my classmates. Winning the Anthony Bruder Memorial Scholarship would help me achieve my dreams of having a career in sports management and enjoying all aspects of a college experience. Since I was twelve years old, I always imagined myself working for one of the big sports teams organizations like the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Flyers, or the Philadelphia Phillies. Feeling a part of the behind-the-scenes of a professional sports team and enjoying the working environment is a part of my dream career path that I want to achieve. Also, I want to help inspire other people who want to achieve the same path. Becoming a golfer helped me build in more areas like discipline, hard work, and cooperation. Throughout my life, I have done community service and two years ago I volunteered for an organization called Ron Jaworski Golf Foundation. Ron Jaworski Celebrity Golf Challenge is an event where professional sports players play golf and help support a fundraiser for at-risk youth in the community so that ball fields and playgrounds can be built. Also, the fundraiser helps donate sports equipment, distribute hundreds of bikes over the holidays, support summer meals for kids and more! Volunteering for Ron Jaworski Golf is a great experience for me because I'm helping make a positive change for the community, I get to connect with all of the past and current sports players, and I get to have a fun volunteering experience which is awesome to have in life. Having volunteer experience helps me prepare for my future dream career. Every step that I take whether that's doing well with my academics, volunteering for a variety of organizations to help positively help the community, or playing in a golf match with my teammates all help me become a great role model for others. I believe that all of the experiences that I have with doing community service, playing golf matches during high school, and succeeding in my education are all great reasons that I'm a great candidate for the Anthony Bruder Memorial Scholarship.
      New Jersey First Generation Scholarship
"Stay true to yourself and listen to your inner voice. It will lead you to your dream." Arthur and Elana Panos Scholarship
"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." Getting through life every day is tough for me because I'm usually faced with a lot of challenges either running my student business or doing tasks at home. At the beginning of this school year, I started my Intermediate Entrepreneurship class which is a class where you have to run a student business for the entire year. For a month I was in a student-run business with two of my close friends called "Commander Cakes." Throughout the month I didn't have a problem with my friends but, a problem with myself. Being in a cooking business I had a gut feeling that God was telling me to switch businesses because cooking wasn't my passion. So I took what God told me and started my own student business called "Chompeez Sports Bands." I have a passion for sports and when I watch sporting events I see that all of the teams have their headbands. My business's goal is to have Gateway-themed headbands available to Gateway students so that they can show school spirit wherever they go even if it's after they graduate from high school. Being an entrepreneur while doing school at the same time is tough, especially for being a solo entrepreneur but, God was there for me to assist me when I had to rethink my decisions. God has helped me not only get a start on my business but also get a successful start on my career. I want to work in the sports business industry because I want to work for well-known sports teams that are known throughout the world. With a passion for sports, I wanted to get into that type of career and God told me that I was making the right decision to go towards that path. My parents always told me that I can do anything that I put my mind to and I always find that to be true. I always dreamed of having a career in sports and making my parents proud of all that I would accomplish in that field. Making God proud is also a priority for me because God helped me get to this point in my life and with God helping me through my life I want to return the favor and show him that I can be successful in my career and out of my career. Being a good role model always matters!
      Trever David Clark Memorial Scholarship
"All I want is for my mental health to be fully repaired." My mental health experience has been a journey of trying to enjoy life but then remembering the negative experiences. Life moves by so fast and it's hard to think that I'm already seventeen years through my life. In late February, my pet Sookie sadly passed away due to cancer that she had in her stomach. From this experience, I knew that she lived a great life and was reaching thirteen years old, ninety-one in dog years! However, for me, this was a devastating loss because she was the second pet that I had and losing her I always remember the memories that we had. From that day I knew that I had to make Sookie proud and accomplish great things in life like doing well in my academics and volunteering to help the community because that's how I can positively change the world! My experience with mental health is often every day when I look at the news every morning and I see the current war that is going on between Hamas and Israel. When I look at the current perspective of the people who are in that situation I begin to get upset because I can't imagine being in their shoes and being stuck in that terrifying experience. I also get upset because it shows that humanity in the world is at an all-time low with people quickly turning on each other in a flash. However, I always believe that there is hope for the innocent Israelis and Palestinians who have to worry about their lives. With progressing through my senior year of high school I know that I overcame many obstacles during my school journey like learning in multiple classes, studying hard every day, and concentrating on setting up my future. I want to put the academic skills that I have learned throughout the years into my dream career, becoming a sports marketing manager. Becoming a sports marketing manager has been an ultimate dream of mine being behind the scenes of a sports organization and helping promote a sports team. With things going on in the world and learning in school at the same time it's hard to deal with my mental health because hearing different things that happen every day is tough but I know that finishing high school is an achievement that I want to accomplish and show other people that you can do anything you put your mind into!

      WCEJ Thornton Foundation Low-Income Scholarship
My life motto is simple but powerful: be the person who decided to achieve something new every day. The greatest achievement that I had in my life so far was becoming a black belt in Karate. When I was six years old, I wanted to do something new and that's when I decided that I wanted to start taking some karate classes. The White Belt was the first of many achievements in Karate that I had and I was super proud of myself for accomplishing a step in my Karate journey. The White Belt symbolizes the birth or beginning of a person's will to acquire the skills of karate. Every class that I took taught me how to be respectful and to focus on defense rather than offense. A year into my karate journey I was able to achieve the accomplishment of an orange belt which showed me that, "you can do anything you put your mind into." Orange is the growing strength of the sun, growing throughout my karate journey has built my character. After three years into my karate journey, I was able to become a green belt meaning that I have shown a representation of growth in karate. Growth is something that I have shown while participating in Karate because Karate helped me improve many different skills: Focus, Confidence, Discipline, Goal Setting, etc. After four years of being in karate, I was able to become a red belt. Red symbolizes the red hot strength of the sun. Becoming a red belt taught me that so far in my karate journey, I was able to learn a lot about myself that I haven't known about myself before. For example, I learned that I have a lot of self-defense skills and that I was able to memorize a lot of techniques and combinations. While being a red belt I was nominated by my karate school to be a candidate for a test to become a black belt. The Dan Shim Sa was a test that red belts take to show what they have learned throughout their karate experience. If any red belt passes the test then they become a black belt and have a dan rank which shows that you have reached one of the highest accomplishments any student can achieve. I was nervous when I had to take the test, but I was determined to try my best and give it all I had. After five and a half years, I became a black belt and reached my ultimate goal that I set myself coming into karate. I was proud of myself for not giving up and reaching a goal that others haven't been able to reach. They say in karate that, "a black belt is a white belt that never gave up." Overall, karate taught me a lot of life skills that I need for the future and a lot of skills I never thought that I had. I was able to focus every day, build my character, build up my confidence, and set goals along my karate journey. I hope that in the future I'm able to achieve my dream of becoming a sports marketing manager for a sports organization. I have always been a sports fan and I have always wanted to work for a sports organization. Karate has achieved my life motto of being the person that decided to achieve something new every day.
      Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math is like taking a journey up a mountain and you feel great once you get to the top. Math can also be like trying to solve a Rubik's cube but there are tons of possible ways to be able to get the right combination. I love math because math can have a lot of different patterns and sequences, but there is only one right answer. Math is always my favorite subject in school because it guides me in the right direction to becoming successful in life. For example, Shopping is one of the activities that math is a great influence because going shopping causes you to make decisions on what you want to purchase. Also, in my junior year of high school, one of the most important things I had to learn during the school year was how to manage money because eventually, I'm going to have to be able to make financial decisions. Since I took a lot of mathematics classes throughout my education I was able to gain the skills necessary to be able to manage money. After high school, I want to pursue a career in sports marketing. Sports marketing is a career where you have to make a lot of promoting decisions, but also try to provide the needs and wants of a consumer. I loved learning math because if I didn't have any knowledge of math then I wouldn't be able to pursue my dream career. Overall, Math has been very essential in my life and I wouldn't be able to succeed without it.
      Deborah Thomas Scholarship Award
"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you." This is the quote that I always remind myself of every day I live on Earth. Some days in our lives could be tough sometimes, but spreading kindness to others is a goal that I always have every day in my life. I always do simple things like saying a compliment to someone, holding the door open for someone, being polite to others, and helping out others. Even though these are all ways of making a positive impact on the world, you can always make a change through your career choice. For example, my dream career that I've always wanted to have is becoming a Sports marketing manager for the Philadelphia Eagles. Now some people might think, How does a sports marketing manager make a positive impact on the world? Well, the job of a sports marketing manager is to promote sports brands, such as a team or league. Sports marketing managers are tasked with a lot of duties such as developing marketing campaigns, creating effective advertisements, and overseeing the operations of their organization. When I am a sports marketing manager I plan to take on all of these duties. Also, when I am a sports marketing manager I want to make a great environment for the Philadelphia Eagles fans by creating special events that involve the sports team's players. I am a Philadelphia Eagles fan and every year the Eagles Autism Foundation hosts an annual event called the Eagles Autism Challenge. The Eagles Autism Challenge is an event to help raise money for innovative research and care programs so that doctors and scientists can assist those currently affected by autism as well as future generations. Also, the event brings the community together to help make a positive change for those with autism. Eagles fans and Eagles players participate in different races such as a bike ride, a 5K run or walk, and a sensory walk. I have participated in the Eagles Autism Challenge and it was great to see the community get together to participate in the Eagles Autism Challenge. The Eagles Autism Challenge was a positive environment to be in. You don't always have to be a citizen to make a positive impact on the world, you can make a positive impact by being in an occupation. A sports marketing manager is one of the great occupations that make a positive impact on the community, sports fans, and the whole world. Making a positive experience for Philadelphia Eagles fans and the world is my ultimate goal when I become a sports marketing manager.
Jorian Kuran Harris (Shugg) Helping Heart Foundation Scholarship
Hi, my name is Jack Keller and I'm a high school senior looking to pursue a degree in Business. I would describe myself as a kind, generous, and helpful person. I love to be kind and help people by doing simple things like holding the door for someone, giving compliments, and being polite to people. I was a boy scout before and during my experience I learned a ton of skills. For example, academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills. Being a Boy Scout, taught me all of the skills that I needed to become the person that I am today. Also, I have taken Karate for five years and during that time I learned how to become respectful and to focus on defense rather than offense. Just like being a boy scout, in Karate, I have learned a lot of skills that include Respect, Discipline, Hard Work, Patience, and Courtesy. Being in Karate was a great experience that taught me how to defend myself from others, but also learned all of the important skills that I needed in life. Winning the Jorian Kuran Harris (Shugg) Helping Heart Foundation Scholarship would make a difference for me because it would help me pay for my education and make my dream goals come true. After finishing high school I want to go to college to get a business major with a minor in Sports Management because I want to become a Sports Marketing Manager. Being a Sports Marketing Manager is my dream because I want to be able to promote sporting events for a team's organization and its fans. I have always been a sports fan since I was a kid and making memories for other sports fans would be a great pleasure to have. Also, helping a sports organization become successful would be a great achievement to have. In my life, I have been through the highs and lows with overcoming a lot of obstacles in my life. Emotional Weakness has been one of the lows that I have experienced. A couple of months ago, my pet unfortunately passed away due to cancer and not having them in my life today has been an emotional struggle because I think of all of the memories that I have had with my pet. Losing my pet has been an emotional obstacle in my life, however, it made me stronger. Remembering my pet made me focus on becoming strong and getting through life every day.
