My name is Jaaziel Delcid and I am a proud first-generation Hispanic student majoring in chemistry at the University of South Carolina Aiken. My goal as a soon-to-be scientist is to use my knowledge to help generate clean energy as well as develop the environmentally safe technologies necessary to keep our planet healthy. Having seen the efforts my parents have made to provide me with a better life, I want to make sure that future generations can also enjoy the pleasure of living in a cleaner, safer environment. Also, as a member of an underrepresented minority, I also hope to support and inspire others in similar situations as my own to continue pursuing a career in STEM while taking steps towards improving the world around us. In addition to science, I am an avid enjoyer of reading, anime, hiking, and photography.
