In a world where the complexities of the human mind intersect with mental health challenges, I am inquisitive to uncover its secrets. To do so, I chose to study mathematics and statistics to understand better how to work with data when conducting research. I am especially fascinated by how our genetics affect our thoughts and experiences, hence my pursuit of a career in research neurology.
Recognizing that insufficient mental health support can manifest in various forms, including physical violence, is crucial. I am committed to addressing these issues and ensuring that resources and help are accessible to everyone. I have always been passionate about advocacy, rectifying inequity, and combating ableism.
Furthermore, Black individuals only account 4.6% of neuroscientists. I moved to the US in 2017 to live out my version of the American Dream.
My family, being a true color of racial genes, I fostered a proficiency in six languages, therefore am skilled in effective communication and bridging cultural divides.
I believe that language plays a significant role, so I hope to destigmatize and humanize abnormal psychological disorders, i.e., conditions such as Narcissistic, ASPD (Sociopathy), paraphilias, and CU traits (Psychopathy). Doing so could encourage individuals to seek proper treatment. As such, they could maintain a sense of purpose, meaningful relationships, and community while working toward stability and healing.
Because: "People improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them when they don't?" – Michael
