Bio

Hello! My name is Isabella Luquez. I was born in Miami, Florida, and I am currently studying at Florida State University to obtain a major in Finance. Since I was a child, I have had a devoted love for sales, technology, and communication. For that reason, I entered the debate team at my school to have the opportunity to share my ideas and learn about important world issues. It was one of the best decisions of my life because it gave me a voice and the ability to listen to other people's arguments and points of view. I grew up with my loud and loving Colombian family. It gave me a sense of what it meant to be Hispanic. At first, I struggled to put myself in a single category, finding my own identity, but I learned to be proud of my diversity and history. That is something I would love to teach other young Americans to do. My life goals include creating a business with professionals around the world with concise communication and problem-solving skills. I also want to express through social media my professional experiences. Especially my mistakes and how I overcame them since I believe they are the best guidance to a path of success. I am also passionate about meeting new people and learning about other cultures. What makes me a great candidate is my hard work, my morals, and my empathy.

      "Wise Words" Scholarship
My mom used to always say this quote to me every time I got upset about things not going the way I wanted them to: "What does the wise man expect from life? ... Whatever it brings." At first, I just saw it as a cheesy phrase that did not make sense. But when the covid-19 pandemic happened, it became the foundation of who I am today. All of our lives did a 180 degrees turn. I felt like the world was falling apart. I saw myself as powerless, especially since I had tried to control everything around me since I was little. This quote symbolizes how we sometimes act as victims for every bad thing that happens to us, blaming the world and saying it is not fair. But life is just as it is. No matter how many obstacles we may face, we must deal with them with strength and willpower. Sometimes we wish for the world to be easy or perfect, but if it is, then we would not have a purpose. I understood that no matter how many plans we have, everything can change, and we must learn to adapt to the circumstances. It also made me appreciate more the miracle of waking up to continue fighting every day because it does not have a price. This quote has taught me that we must not lose faith. It is all about having a good attitude while we endure our daily challenges. I have decided to receive everything that life can bring, moving forward with the people I love as my motivation.
