I desire to pursue a degree in Forensic Chemistry and Anthropology with a minor in Crime Science. I would like to gain experience in research and investigations. I have always been intrigued with solving unsolved cases and putting missing pieces together. I have a drive to bring a voice to those that have been wronged and forgotten. In 2019, I had the honor of meeting and spending an afternoon with Holocaust survivors. Although they were only children when that occurred, they shared their stories and kept their loved ones story alive. I was so moved when they offered this piece of advise. Never forget and keep their story alive, so that the horror never repeats itself again. My drawing won first prize that year and the experience was etched in my heart and mind. My depiction of their living memories moved them to tears. The survivors said that it gave them hope for the future.
In the future I would like to work investigating unsolved crimes and bringing those responsible to justice. I am an experienced martial artist and student athlete. I am also a Junior instructor in my dojo where I mentor and train children to gain strength, discipline, self-defense and confidence in themselves; helping them believe and reach their full potential. Training them gives me the satisfaction that their skills may help them protect themselves from a threat or danger. I especially enjoy seeing girls join the classes because I serve as a role model for them in a male dominated sport. They tell me that I inspire them to be strong, smart and brave, too.
Growing up I encountered bullying like many children experience. I tell my student my journey and how all we do shapes us to the person we want to be. I was fortunate that my parents allowed me to train and become disciplined through the martial arts. I can honestly say that it was the best decision that helped form me to the person I am today. I am disciplined in various forms and compete in wrestling and mixed martial arts. The confidence I gained has propelled me to excel in all aspects of my life as a student, athlete and community member.
In the next chapter of my life, I want to earn my degrees and invest it back in the community. I am very grateful for all the people I have been fortunate to meet through my academic schooling, martial arts and wrestling. They have inspired me to pursue a life that is compassionate, protects, gives and invests her energy for a better community.
