Philanthropy, the love of humanity! Now, who wouldn’t want that to be part of their daily ambitions in life? To be completely honest, I am new to the world of philanthropy.
As a young adult, I am just learning the purpose and importance of it. I see how it offers opportunity, gives support to our communities, teaches leadership, money management, and empathy toward one another. It creates a sense of self-knowledgment contributing to emotional intelligence. Philanthropy builds a one of a kind bond in our communities and helps unite us together with a common goal of improving the wellbeing of humankind.
While attending middle school, I was introduced to my first experience of volunteering at my local food pantry and being in student council. You can see firsthand how giving your time can help your community and the gratitude they feel towards you. I created friends with my fellow community members, seeing them each week, which helped me boost, not only my social skills, but my reflection on the relationships we create. I personally struggle with anxiety and tend to keep to myself because that is what was more comfortable to me. Volunteering put me in an environment where I learned self-confidence, integrity, and determination. These are prime examples of what it can do for our communities. It can inspire others around you to do the same. Our communities can come together to feel a sense of accomplishment in the changes resulting from their own efforts.
I continued my volunteer work in local businesses such as my school, veterinarian clinic and town blood drives. Communities are a place where culture and tradition are maintained and preserved. We can improve our communities by focusing more on those traditions to support the people around us who feel like they are outsiders. This will help tame the issues of separation between groups and increase the interests of the people that surround us, and build lifelong relationships with each other. The giving, in which we can do, helps to enhance where we live and work. It creates a safe place of involvement and a positive change for the future of our communities. Giving is hardwired into who we are as humans. I don’t know about you, but the emotions created by giving are astounding. Philanthropy can assist in giving a support system to the people of our communities. Volunteering your time, no matter how small, can have the potential to make a substantial difference. Sometimes it’s the smallest changes that have the biggest impacts.
