Receiving a scholarship will further boost my confidence in knowing that anything is possible when you have faith in something greater than yourself.
Prior to law school, I served as the Constituent Outreach Constituent Outreach Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Prior to joining the Georgia Department of Transportation, I served as a Case Manager with the Georgia Department of Human Services. During my time with the department, I investigated reports of child abuse; found foster and adoptive homes for abused and neglected children; helped out-of-work parents get back on their feet and provided numerous support services and programs to help families in need.
I have also served as a Constituent Specialist for former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed; where I assisted with providing community crisis intervention to homeless residents of the city (shelters, warming stations, etc.).
In 2019, Georgia Department of Transportation joined with the Office of Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr to produce an event to create awareness and help put an end to human trafficking in Georgia. The department won the PRSA Phoenix Award for Public Service for an article I penned titled: There’s TRAFFIC... and there's TRAFFICK.
Please accept my sincere thanks for your time and consideration.
Much obliged,
Ike Emmanuel Duru Jr.

Served as the Constituent Outreach Constituent Outreach Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) from September 2017 to July 2021. I have had the opportunity to work with senior- level government officials to convey information to Georgians; as well as listen and respond to the views, concerns, and suggestions of Georgia residents.
Prior to joining the GDOT, I served as a Case Manager with the Georgia Department of Human Services from February 2017 to September 2017. During my time with the department, I investigated reports of child abuse; found foster and adoptive homes for abused and neglected children; helped out-of-work parents get back on their feet and provided numerous support services and programs to help families in need.
From May 2015 to July 2016, I served as a Constituent Specialist for Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, where I assisted with community outreach efforts, town hall meetings and numerous special events. I served as a point of contact with the public, government officials, business owners, vendors, sponsors, community leaders and Neighborhood Planning Unit members (NPU), resolving complaints by city residents and providing community crisis intervention to homeless residents of the city (shelters, warming stations, etc.).
Prior to joining the Reed Administration, I served as a Senate Aide in the Georgia Senate Press Office, from January 2015 to April 2015. It was here where I worked to assist numerous senators with the drafting of press releases, media advisories, newsletters, and speeches. I also had the opportunity to summarize legislation manuscripts for distribution to the public, transcribe various senate committee meetings and developed relationships with senators, lobbyists, and media personnel.
A Georgia native, I received a bachelor’s in mass communications from Kennesaw State University. During this college, I interned at the City of Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management Communications and Community Relations Office and Live Nation Entertainments Marketing and Communications Office.
Having worked in public service and government, I am confident that I can provide my community with quality legal representation in either the private or public sector.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Much Obliged,
Ike Duru
