Bio

Ever since I lost my dad and brother, my mindset towards the definition of life has changed rapidly, my eyes opened wide to see how people in the society are suffering because they don’t get enough health care, or are financially unstable. So my life goal is to become a nurse, own a foundation that helps children, and others that can’t pay their medical bills with a free health care.& also help my widow mom who took care of five boys and still has medical bills of her own to pay up.

I struggled with depression due to the death of my father and brother. It was a difficult experience to go through, and I found it challenging to manage the symptoms and maintain a sense of well-being. I sought out professional help and found many different treatment options available for depression, including therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes. I worked hard to find the treatment plan that worked best for me and stayed committed to my recovery. In addition to seeking professional help, I also reached out to friends and family members for support. Talking about my feelings and experiences helped me feel less alone and more connected to others. Although recovery is a journey, I'm happy to say that I've made progress and have learned a lot about myself and my mental health. I believe that it's important to continue advocating for mental health awareness and working towards improving access to mental health resources for all people. With the right support and resources, it is possible to manage depression and live a fulfilling life. Depression is a mental health condition that affects millions of people around the world. It's characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and a lack of interest in activities that you once enjoyed. Depression can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, life events, and brain chemistry. One of the most challenging aspects of depression is that it can be difficult to recognize and treat. Many people who struggle with depression feel ashamed or embarrassed about their symptoms and may not seek help. However, it's important to remember that depression is a treatable condition, and there are many different treatment options available. Therapy is one of the most effective treatments for depression. It involves talking to a mental health professional about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Therapy can help you identify negative patterns of thinking and behavior and develop new coping skills to manage your symptoms. Medication is another common treatment for depression. There are many different types of antidepressant medications available, and they work by altering the levels of certain chemicals in the brain. It's important to work closely with a healthcare provider to find the medication that works best for you and to monitor any potential side effects. Lifestyle changes can also be an effective way to manage depression. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, and getting enough sleep can all help improve your mood and reduce symptoms of depression. It's also important to avoid drugs and alcohol, which can exacerbate symptoms of depression. In addition to seeking professional help, it's important to reach out to friends and family members for support. Talking about your feelings and experiences can help you feel less alone and more connected to others. It can also help you identify any negative thought patterns or behaviors that may be contributing to your depression. If you're struggling with depression, it's important to remember that recovery is a journey. It may take time to find the right treatment plan for you, and there may be setbacks along the way. However, with the right support and resources, it is possible to manage your symptoms and live a fulfilling life. It's also important to continue advocating for mental health awareness and working towards improving access to mental health resources for all people. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and everyone deserves access to high-quality care. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression, there are many different resources available, including hotlines, support groups, and online communities. Remember, you are not alone, and there is hope for recovery.
Yvela Michele Memorial Scholarship for Resilient Single Parents
Growing up, my family faced numerous challenges that made it difficult for us to make ends meet. My father passed away when I was just a child, leaving my mother to take care of five boys on her own. As a result, my mother had to work multiple jobs just to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. Despite her best efforts, there were days when we didn't have enough to eat because she wasn't financially stable. Watching my mother cry while she struggled to take care of us was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced. At some point, I had to drop out of school to help her out any way I could financially. These experiences taught me the importance of hard work and perseverance, and they instilled in me a desire to succeed and make a better life for myself. Despite the challenges we faced, my mother's unwavering support and my determination to succeed have helped me overcome obstacles and continue to pursue my educational goals. Throughout my educational journey, my mother has been my biggest supporter. She has always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and has provided me with the support and resources I need to succeed. Despite her own struggles, she has always put her children first and has made countless sacrifices to ensure that we have everything we need to succeed. My mother's support and my own determination have been instrumental in helping me reach my educational goals. Despite the challenges I have faced, I have continued to pursue my passions and develop the skills and knowledge I need to succeed. I am grateful for the support of my loved ones and am committed to making a positive impact in the world. Looking to the future, I am excited to continue pursuing my passions and making a positive impact in the world. I am grateful for the love and support of my family and friends, and I am committed to using my talents and skills to make a difference in the lives of others. ALS Family Scholarship
ALS is a devastating condition that has had a significant impact on my life. My brother was diagnosed with the disease, and it has been difficult to see him experience the loss of muscle control and other symptoms. It's been challenging for our family to adjust to the changes that come with the disease, but we've been doing our best to provide support and care for him. The experience of seeing my brother go through ALS has been a life-changing one. It has made me realize the importance of healthcare and the impact that it can have on people's lives. I've always been interested in the field of healthcare, but this experience has solidified my passion for it. I want to work with patients who are going through similar challenges and provide them with the best possible care. Receiving this scholarship will help me achieve my career goals and make a positive impact on people's lives. I plan to use the scholarship to further my education and gain the knowledge and skills necessary to help patients with ALS and other conditions. I hope to make a difference in people's lives and contribute to the field of healthcare in a meaningful way. One of the biggest challenges of ALS is the fact that it is a progressive condition. It can be difficult for patients and their families to adjust to the changes that come with the disease. My family has had to make a number of adjustments to accommodate my brother's needs, from installing ramps and other accessibility features in our home to providing him with the care that he needs. Despite the challenges, my brother has remained positive and determined throughout his journey with ALS. He has inspired me to be strong and to never give up, no matter what challenges I may face in life. His resilience has shown me the importance of perseverance and determination, and I plan to carry these traits with me as I pursue my career in healthcare. In conclusion, ALS has had a significant impact on my life, but it has also inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare. Receiving this scholarship will help me achieve my goals and make a positive impact on people's lives. I'm excited about the future and committed to making a difference in the world. Life is unpredictable, and it's important to take health-related issues seriously. After losing a loved one, I turned my grief into something positive by switching from engineering to nursing. Flexibility and adaptability are important traits to have in life, and I'm willing to embrace change and pursue my passion. Bryent Smothermon PTSD Awareness Scholarship
Through my experiences with PTSD, which was caused by the death of my dad and my brother, I've learned a great deal about myself and the world around me. One of the most important lessons I've learned is that mental health is just as important as physical health. For a long time, I thought that I could just tough it out and that my PTSD would eventually go away on its own. However, I soon realized that this wasn't the case and that I needed to seek help in order to overcome my struggles. Another lesson I've learned is that it's okay to ask for help. I used to think that I could handle everything on my own and that asking for help was a sign of weakness. However, when it came to my mental health, I quickly realized that I couldn't do it alone. I needed the support of my loved ones and mental health professionals in order to get better. My PTSD caused sleepless nights, nightmares, depression, and a constant fear of death. It was an incredibly difficult time in my life, but I'm grateful for the support that I received from my loved ones and the mental health professionals who helped me overcome my struggles. When I first started experiencing symptoms of PTSD, I didn't know what was happening to me. I had never heard of PTSD before and I didn't know that it was possible to develop it from the death of a loved one. I thought that I was just going through a normal grieving process and that my symptoms would eventually go away on their own. However, as time went on, my symptoms only got worse. It wasn't until I talked to my doctor that I learned that I was experiencing symptoms of PTSD. My doctor explained to me that PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. While I had heard of PTSD before, I had always associated it with war veterans and first responders. I never thought that it was something that could happen to me. Once I was diagnosed with PTSD, I started to learn more about the condition and how it affects people. I learned that PTSD can cause a wide range of symptoms, including flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, and depression. I also learned that PTSD can be treated with therapy and medication. At first, I was hesitant to seek treatment for my PTSD. I was worried that people would judge me for having a mental health condition and that it would make me seem weak. However, with the encouragement of my loved ones, I decided to give therapy a try and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
