JuJu Foundation Scholarship
My greatest inspiration in my life is my mom. I was born in Pittsburgh and moved to Minnesota with my parents when I was starting preschool. When my parents got divorced, we moved to my mom's hometown, Derry, right next to Latrobe, where Steelers training camp happens. My mom was single for 5 years and had to make so many sacrifices to help me and my sister get to where we are. My ultimate goal is to go to college and get a good job, just so I can repay her for all of the things she has done for me. That is also what drives me, being able to show my mom how much I appreciate all she has done for me.
I will be the only child going to college so this scholarship will help immensely in helping me get to my goal of eventually helping my mom after I get a degree. My plan is to attend college for management information sciences and data sciences, both rapidly growing technology and business fields.
Darryl Davis "Follow Your Heart" Scholarship
I will be the only one of my siblings to attend college or university. It has always been a life goal to be able to provide for others and this scholarship will allow me to continue my education and be able to give back to my family and communities. I was born in a lower-income family and have had to be independent through the majority of my high school career. While I was growing up, I had to live with my grandparents after my parent's divorce. They have made many sacrifices for me to be able to have many things. Additionally, having my great grandmother alive, I want to be able to give back to her if I graduate college before her passing. Every time I talk to a member of my family, they tell me how proud they are of me and it always makes me think about how fortunate I have been.
