Bio

Two of my main goals are to provide for my family and be happy with the life that God’s blessed me with. I am very passionate about teaching and making others happy. I’ve held many leadership roles throughout high school.  I love working with kids and cannot wait to be a mentor/teacher for my students.

My neighbor, Mrs. Boots is 85 years old and is like a grandma to me. When I became old enough to start cutting grass, I started to cut hers. She would not let me work for free, no matter how bad I did. Eventually, she paid me 45 dollars every time I cut her grass. As the years went by, she told almost everyone that lived on our street that I cut grass. I gained a few lawns and eventually it not only became a job but also a good way to help people. It not only made me happy to help others, but it made my customers happy too. By the time I left for college I had 10 yards in total, and some good money for college. Having this job made me realize how much I like making others happy and helping others. There have been many people that have influenced my decision to be a teacher, but the main person is my father. My dad coached me all my life and has been by far the biggest mentor I've ever had. He's taught me so much in all aspects of life, and I am beyond grateful for that. From a young age he's taught me valuable lessons that will be engraved in my mind for life. He taught me how to be a better son, brother, friend, boyfriend, and most importantly a better man. My goal as a teacher is to teach kids lessons that my father taught me. I want to be a memorable teacher for my students and be a good mentor but also a good listener for them. I want my students to know that they can talk to me about anything and everything, just like my father made clear to me. I will forever be thankful for his lessons and will spread those lessons to students as I take on this teaching journey. Being a teacher to me is more than teaching, it's having a positive impact on kids. I want to make a difference in my students’ lives by influencing everything, from educational goals to after-school success. Some of the best teachers I've had helped me make well thought decisions that helped me make the right choices so I can propel myself to greater heights in life. I want to teach students to lay down a foundation for meaningful relationships, understanding their feelings and navigating through challenging situations. I need to make my students problem solvers and academic achievers. Another part of my plan is to be able to teach creatively. Because I want to be a history teacher and I love museums, I would take my class to one because I know they would much rather be on a field trip than stuck in class. I feel like students get more out of the lesson when you’re in a different setting with a bunch or art and history. What I've learned through my time in school is when a teacher is creatively motivating learners, they are motivated to do that in education and eventually their lives after school.
