Becoming a dental hygienist has become a passion of mine, a path I never imagined I'd take until recently. A few months ago, my life took a turn for the better, and it sparked a newfound inspiration within me to pursue this field of study. My own neglect of dental care in the past has led me to realize the importance of oral health, and I'm driven to provide others with the kind of care I wish I had received earlier. I plan on attending EPCC (El Paso Community College) to achieve my education in this field of study. To become a dental hygienist, one must earn either a bachelor's or an associate's degree in dental hygiene. These degree programs cover a wide spread of subjects crucial to the field. From anatomy and physiology to microbiology and radiography, there's a lot to learn about. But what excites me the most is the opportunity to learn and put action into dental hygiene techniques and procedures that will enable me to make a real difference in the lives of the people in El Paso.  What motivates me even more is the chance to share my personal journey with others. My own struggles with oral health have given me a unique perspective, one that allows me to empathize with patients who might be facing similar challenges. By allowing them to be comfortable and open to coming to the dentist and getting the treatment they need, and by not being embarrassed or shut down because of their teeth, while making sure to emphasize the importance of preventive care and regular dental check-ups to everyone in El Paso. I hope to inspire them to take control of their oral health and avoid the mistakes I made.  In my future career as a dental hygienist, I envision working closely with dentists and other dental professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients. Whether it's conducting oral assessments, performing cleanings, or educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices, I'm eager and excited to make an impact on people's lives for such an important thing that most people brush off.  But it's not just about technical skills; it's also about communication and education. Many people are unaware of the link between oral health and overall well-being, and I see it as my responsibility to spread awareness. By explaining the importance of regular dental visits, proper brushing and flossing techniques, and the role of diet in oral health, I aim to empower my patients to take charge of their own dental hygiene. Make sure they have confidence in themselves, and don’t let one of their most important parts bring them down.  In conclusion, my journey toward becoming a dental hygienist is fueled by a desire to help others and make a meaningful difference in their lives. With dedication, empathy, and a great desire for more knowledge about the subject, I'm confident that I can succeed in this field and contribute to the promotion of better oral health for all El Paso people.
