FinalistBio
Greetings, my name is Heart Monger, I am an immigrant and a adopted daughter of a 100% disabled United States ARMY Veteran. Within my family, I am the youngest to graduate from college and pass the State Boards Exams for Nursing Assistants. My career goal is to become the best and most reliable Registered Nurse in my field.
I was born in the Philippines and grew up with my Grandparents. I immigrated to the United States with my mother when she married my adopted father who had served in the ARMY for 21 years. English is my third language and I am currently in my second year of studying Latin.
I have always been so passionate about becoming a nurse because I have always loved helping others and making their day. Especially if they are at their most vulnerable moments and they are in need of love, care, and hospitality. Being someone who gives a positive impact on the lives of patients, giving comfort, showing compassion, and a shoulder to lean on is something that I just want to do for a living. This is what I will do with the education that I will receive with the help of the scholarships I hope to earn because I want to make a difference in other people's lives. Therefore applying for scholarships is crucial to my education!
I took two dual-enrollment classes. For two years, I was enrolled into my High School and Community College CNA program. I have taken multiple Honors Classes such as English, Math, and History. I also took another extra class online, Medical Terminology, and finished it after one semester.

Community Health Ambassador Scholarship for Nursing Students
My name is Heart Monger, an aspiring nurse, and the reason why I want to pursue a degree in nursing is because I want to continue making small positive differences in peoples lives. Being someone who gives a positive impacts on the lives of patients, giving comfort, showing compassion, and giving a shoulder to lean on is something that I just want to do for a living. One of the many people who had inspired me to become a nurse was no other than the mother of nursing, Florence Nightingale.
I was during the middle of my high school freshman year that I was so sure of myself when I told my parents how I want to become a nurse. At that time we were in the middle of a world wide quarantine due to COVID and shortly after, my grandfather, who lives in the Philippines, health turned for the worse. I have never felt so hopeless and stressed before in my life and it was the nurses and doctors that has assured my family and I that they will take care of everything. It was then that I realized how honorable, important, and special being a medical personnel was. I wanted to be like them. To be there for people, especially when they are in their most vulnerable moments and they are in need of love, care, and hospitality. I want to be there to improve their health so that they can have the condition for them to spend time with their loved ones and live their lives out and about enjoying themselves. It's not just about earning lots of money, but saving lives, making people happy, and making a difference is peoples lives. With this reason, I entered my high school's nursing program and graduated at the age of 17 with a CNA certification in my high school junior year. I hope to contribute to my community as a nurse this way and continue to further my education.
I plan on becoming a reliable Registered Nurse and helping those in need within my community and country. Paying for college at this time period is quite difficult because it costs you an arm and a leg. Even with the support of my adopted father, who had been verified by the Veterans Administration as 100% disabled, it is very hard to keep myself from going into student debt, which I would personally like to keep away from. Therefore applying for scholarships is crucial to my education and winning this scholarship will take me a step closer to that dream.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
— Mahatma Gandhi
My name is Heart Monger and the reason why I want to further my education in STEAM is because I want to continue making small positive differences in peoples lives as a nurse. Being someone who gives a positive impacts on the lives of patients, giving comfort, showing compassion, and giving a shoulder to lean on is something that I just want to do for a living. I was inspired to enter the medical field by no other than my family doctor, a novel that I read about Elizabeth Blackwell, the first female doctor, and lastly, Florence Nightingale, who I had always adored and admired after I watched a movie about her life. These three people all had something very much in common with each other and that was caring for others.
My ambition to enter the medical field was fully triggered after my adopted father, who had been declared as 100% Disabled by the Veterans Administration, health condition began to decline and then Covid-19 hit. It was during that time that I realized how important, demanding, and honorable the roles of doctors and their nurses. I have never been so sure of myself when I told my parents how I want to become a nurse. I want to be there for people, especially when they are in their most vulnerable moments and they are in need of love, care, and hospitality. I want to be there to improve their health so that they can have the condition for them to spend time with their loved ones and live their lives out and about enjoying themselves and not be cooped up in a hospital room suffering. It's not just about earning lots of money, but saving lives, making people happy, and making a difference in their lives. With this reason, I entered my high school's nursing program and graduated at the age of 17 from the local community college with a CNA certification in my high school junior year.
I plan on becoming a reliable Registered Nurse and helping those in need, but I do not want to accomplish that with thousands of dollars of student debt hovering over my head. Paying for college at this time period is quite difficult because it costs you an arm and a leg. Its is very hard to keep yourself from going into debt, which I would personally like to keep myself away from. Therefore applying for scholarships is crucial to my education and winning this scholarship will take me a step closer to that dream.
Ultimate K-Pop Stan Scholarship
Seven men, showed up in my family's TV screen talking about self love and embarrassing ones imperfections, leading me towards a road of encouragements, love, cultural embrace, diversity, and a world of imagination. BTS, also know as Bangtan Sonyeondan or Bangtan Boys, arrived in my personal life as a ray of sunlight brightening up my dull and constant world. I once lived a live, that had no excitement or creativity, but with them, I started looking forward to weekly YouTube updates, drop-dead gorgeous photo shots, funny contents, unexpected midnight LIVES, and fandom activities that range from local to global projects. Through them, I learned how about the many various cultures and how there is no such thing as a barrier when when it comes to kindness, honesty, love, dance, and music.
BTS showed me that I should not be downgrading myself due to racial comments, the way I look, where I am from, and what I am as a person. They lead me the path of self love. The beautiful lyrics that they write themselves and the creativity that their music videos set into motion, is proof of their sincerity of the messages that they want to deliver to the world. For example, the song Zero O'clock sung by the BTS vocal line, Kim Seok-jin, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, and Jeon Jungkook, preaches that that you should not judge people because you never know what they are going through. They sing about how as a human, we should stop looking at ourselves through society's perspective and how over all you should love yourself first, before depending on others because in the end you are the one that controls who you are as a human living on Earth.
These seven Korean boys aren't just working for money, but to spread awareness of how cruel the world is and how we, as humans should spread some kindness to brighten up with simple actions such as just leading a helping hand to a person struggling to carry their bags, or opening a door. Through speeches, events, donations and more, BTS is slow spread the words of to students and younger generations to lend a hand to anyone experiencing bullying and help build a nicer world.
The fun and support does not just end there. The Bangtan Boys also has their fans called ARMY, which stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth, that does more than stan BTS and buy their merchandise, but they also launch events that go from local to global projects. ARMYs have run more than 600 charity projects, organized by teams within the fanbase. They represent their individual countries and specific charity groups like BTS For Charity or Singapore’s Borahae Team. They’ve regrown rain forests with Mono Forest Project, adopted whales, red squirrels, ducks and more, and donated food and clothes to those in need. They respond to what the BTS members deem to care for about the different crises around the world.
There are so much more that they have done to help their local communities to the whole world. The things that they have do are what makes them stand out the most in the entertainment industry. Therefore, if someone asks me why I love BTS and shamelessly stand by their side, the reason's that have listed above is only a few of the many reasons why I truly care about them.
Women in Healthcare Scholarship
" 'The education of women in medicine is a new idea,' Elizabeth went on. ' And it takes time to prove that a new medical can be a valuable one. We hope, here at the infirmary, to continue this work. We must prove to medical men, as well as to the public, the skill women can bring to the medical profession.' " ~ Elizabeth Blackwell, Girl Doctor by Joanne Landers Henry. Even though I had only been a middle schooler when I read this book, it had opened a door of opportunity and dignity of how and what I want to live my life.
My grandmother had bought me this book and it was about a little girl who was an immigrant and was inspired by a male friend to pursue the life in medicine after she had witnessed how important and admirable a doctor was. It was very rare at that time to have any female doctor's, in fact there was none. Due to this, she had a hard time breaking the walls that blocked her dreams. In the end, with the support of her loving family and teachers, she became the first female doctor, Elizabeth Blackwell. Along with this novel and my adopted father's medical condition that had him verified as 100% disabled by the Veterans Administration, was the trigger for my ambition to enter the medical field as my dream job. Through this, I researched and gained knowledge about the different types of medical professions and how they impact society. Then, the Covid-19 era happened, only gave and showed me more reasons of why medicine is a very demanding and honorable job. It's not just about earning lots of money, but saving lives, making people happy, and making a difference is peoples lives. With this reason, I entered my high school's nursing program and graduated at the age of 17 with a CNA certification in my Junior year.
Being someone who gives a positive impact on the lives of patients, giving comfort, showing compassion, and a shoulder to lean on is something that I want to do for a living. I plan on becoming a reliable Registered Nurse and helping those in need. Winning this scholarship will take me a step closer to that goal. I have always loved helping people and making their day. Especially if they are at their most vulnerable moments and they are in need of love, care, and hospitality. This is what I will do with the education that I will receive with the help of this scholarship because I want to make a difference in other people's lives even if it's a small amount. Just like Elizabeth Blackwell, I wan to become that small spark that will eventually turn into a ranging fire that breaks down the walls of prejudice and limitations on what women can do with their lives.
Barbie Dream House Scholarship
My dream house is a two-story Mediterranean-style mansion. It would typically have U-shaped floor plans with a central courtyard and often a fountain in the middle. The interior rooms are open to the garden which is used as an extension of the living space. The roof style would be low-pitchedd covered in red tiles. It will include the arched windows and doorways. The main lighting will be chandeliers and the ceiling will have veins and other renaissance-like designs carved on them. Pillars will be necessary both indoors and outdoors.
The inside walls will be the color of cream and the window will not have blinds but long curtains instead that are floor to ceiling. Depending on the climate and the terrain, the color of the house will match accordingly. The mansion will be filled with warm colors, house plants and flowers. It will have seven rooms, one master bedroom, and six guest rooms each one having its own restroom and mini-living room. It will have one big library, two living rooms with one upstairs and the other downstairs, multiple fireplaces, and a staircase that is in the shape of an upside-down U and leads up and down the house. The flooring will be tile and it will be a warm color and so will be the countertops although they will be granite. This is a short description of my dream house that I hope to someday build when I become successful in life.

Book Lovers Scholarship
Floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, with no food or drinkable water to devour. No land can be seen for miles, only the never-ending sky, vast ocean before you, sharks, hunger, and the Grim Ripper lurking behind you, eagerly waiting to take your soul the moment you let your guard down. Yet, the minute you thought that God had called for you into His arms, figures worse than Hades himself appeared, your country's enemies. The enemy that had bombed Pearl Harbor killed many soldiers and paved the landing of the United States into the Second Great War. What could be more humiliating, traumatizing, and hopeless, than becoming a Prisoner of War in a country that is responsible for your brothers, fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters' tears and heartache?
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand is a true story based on Louis Zamperini, a former Olympic track star who survived a plane crash during the Pacific War, spent 47 days on a raft, and two and a half years as a Japanese Prisoner of War. The reason why this book is my favorite and is something that I want people in the world to read is because it is so encouraging and tear-jerking. I see this book as a guide towards the path of development, motivation, and how humans can survive through unthinkable hardships, such as physical, emotional, and psychological hardships. With great detail, the author tells the story of a hero who never gave up.
I discovered this book through my father whose love for books is very unmeasurable. This novel made me so grateful for so many things and a big eye-opener for those who want to seek a better life for themselves. Louis Zamperini showed the importance of sports. He was a sickly child who could hardly even run a lap but grew up into an amazing track star who broke the record of running the last lap the fastest during the Olympics of 1936. The story also displayed how selfless our armed service members are, how small victories lead to bigger victories, the display of how forgiveness brings more peace than revenge, the importance of self-respect, how nothing is impossible if you try, and lastly how strength of human will is unbreakable. These are the reasons why I would have the world read this one book.

Imagine being in the middle of a tall forest filled with undetectable noises and the feeling of being stared down like prey. It's dark and no stars are shining because there is a storm raging around you. Suddenly the storm stops, no thunder or rain can be heard and a small ray of light crept through the tightly knitted forest. Then the beautiful melody of birds singing is evidence of the harsh weather that had passed and the sense of relief to be able to see and hear clearly again. That is what music is like to me. A pleasing melody, that soothes the raging emotions of sadness and belittlement. It shaped my world from being all littered into a place of positivity and improvement.
Ever since was little I had always been bullied because I was different. I was made fun of because my nose was small and flat. I also did not speak very good English and had a very strong accent because English is not my first language. I was called stupid because I did not know how to read well or did not write fast enough to answer all of my math bellwork problems before the timer rang. I had always been belittled by my classmates simply because I didn't look like them, act like them, or speak the English language properly. I was told that there was no way that I could ever reach my dreams because I lacked those properties. Negativity and bitterness eventually engulfed me and who knew that a song could change my ways of thinking? The song Tomorrow by BTS was the light that passed through all of the negativity and embraced my imperfection.
Music has always been one of my ways of escaping reality and is the main source of my dream fantasies. It is what led me away from bitterness and how the lyrics, "Follow your dream like breaker. Even if it breaks down, don’t ever run backwards, never" (BTS) was my salvation. It was curiosity that led me to these findings and because of that, I am more confident of myself. It was because of this song that I decided to keep my chin up, hold my head high, accept my heritage, and acknowledge that everyone's existence is precious and needed in this world. So instead of listening to their insults, I listened to music to drown away such hateful words and replaced them with beautiful melodies. Why negative when you can be positive?
Now, here I am, a graduating senior who can speak not just one but three languages and is currently learning Latin as my fourth. I became the youngest to graduate from college and pass the State Board Exams for Nursing Assistants at the end of my high school junior year. I am proud of my accomplishments and I will not let other people's poisonous words ever hold me back. Therefore, music led me away from self-hatred and shaped my world into a place of development, happiness, dedication, compassion, self-love and understanding.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Fan Scholarship
Have you ever just looked at someone and thought Wow, look at that pretty face, he must be a flirt and an absolute jerk? That was my thoughts on Jeremiah Fisher. However, he changed my mind after everything that he did just for Belly's happiness, such as canceling their marriage because he knew that she had always had her brother deep down within her heart. In the beginning, I have always been supporting Jeremiah and it stayed that way until the end of the book series and the TV show. The reason why I am on his team is because he was always there for Belly when things got tough and he is always there to brighten things up.
In Season 2, he was there for Isabel, taking care of her and lifting her spirits after Conrad broke her heart into a million pieces. I understand that Conrad was going through a lot such as their aunt trying to sell their beach house, complicated and tough college life, and the death of their mother was crushing him emotionally and mentally, but he didn't have to do that to Belly. I didn't think that they had to break up because isn't the purpose of having a boy/girlfriend to rely on and trust each other, along with having a romantic and stable relationship. Instead of having Conrad be the one to support Belly throughout the battle for the Fisher's house, Jere was there supporting her emotionally and psychologically.
Also during the same season, the two were very sweet to each other. They flirted a lot and shared romanticly soft interactions. One particular scene that made my heart flutter was the scene where they shared a very steamy kiss in the second to the last episode. The relationship that Jere and Belly had was pretty stable. Having that kind of relationship is healthier and less stressful.
Jeremiah is just a lot more easygoing, playful, and less mysterious unlike hie his brother, Conrad. Even though he flirts with almost everyone, it just adds to his charms and it is because of his charms that people are so drawn into him. Conrad is a little too serious for me. He has a very deep, contemplated personality, that doesn't just attracts Isabel, but many others too. My favorite moments with the two main characters are when they simply open up to each other, confessing their feelings and thoughts. Regardless of how cute the couple looked with each other, I just couldn't help but feel bad for Jeremiah and support his cause even more. In conclusion, despite the book series ending with the happy marriage of Isabel and Conrad, Team Jeremiah will always be the team that I shall cheer for.
