Bio

The Harley Davidson motorcycle gave me my first name, Harley. I play the important role of being the oldest in my family of six. I have a highly autistic non-verbal brother who does add lots of excitement to my life. Because of his autism, many of our family funds go towards his care and schooling. This is why I am working hard as a student in school now and searching for scholarships to help with my future college career. I am an empathetic person and want to use my skills, and future skills, to help others in anyway I can. I feel that I have an important role in this world as I aspire to become a Pediatrician. I love working with children and work hard towards the day I can care for their well-being. After I gain these skills, I want to take humanitarian trips and help children who aren't so lucky when it comes to healthcare access. I work tirelessly to reach my goals inside and outside of school. I've become an excellent artist, pianist, and baker through lots of classes and practice. I work three separate jobs to save up for college using the skills I have worked so hard on to improve. I am a piano teacher, a government-employed respite worker for my brother, and work in my self-made business of baking and delivering homemade bread. I hope that through hard work and dedication, I can save up for future schooling and earn scholarships to help me on my journey in life.

    Bold Dream Big Scholarship
My dream life revolves around who I am with and the experiences this beautiful earth has to offer. I have a deep love for nature and wish to spend a great deal of time outdoors with family and friends. I want to experience every landscape and culture throughout the entire world. I want to expand my understanding of this world and want to help people along the way. As I ponder my dream life, the future I imagine similarly reflects the life of David Attenborough. He is a talented author and biologist who traveled the world, experiencing new cultures and studying animals. I wish to travel the world as he did and learn and grow through nature's teachings. I wish to go out every day, exploring the deepest oceans and climbing the tallest mountains. I imagine going from pole to pole with every day packed full of new adventures. I want to experience this with loved ones by my side and meet new friends along the way. Comparably to David Attenborough, I dream of sharing my findings with the world. I want to show others that beauty is found everywhere. I want to show the differences between people around the world and what makes them special. I dream my experiences would help convince others to preserve these beautiful environments and cultures. Though it is a dream, I work hard to one day make my dream life a reality.

This is me repelling down a 90-foot cliff. To many, this accomplishment may be insignificant, but to me this is a great accomplishment. I have a fear of heights and trusting myself to not slip up and fall was terrifying. But, I overcame my fear and safely scaled down the cliff. I am extremely proud of my accomplishment and hope to be brave and face my fears again in the future!
    Nikhil Desai "Favorite Film" Scholarship
I have big dreams for my future. I aspire to be a mother, a Pediatrician, and a service provider to children and families much less fortunate than me. At times my dreams have seemed too difficult and almost impossible to reach. The film "The Pursuit of Happiness" has completely changed the way I look at any obstacles to my dreams. It has taught me that the mountains that block my path are worth climbing. It has shown me that the late nights are worth it, the AP and CE classes are worth it, the 3 jobs are all worth it, and all this is because of this film. It has inspired me to work harder than I thought possible, all the while with a smile on my face. This film showed me where determination and kindness will lead me. I can face any challenge headed my way with courage and the will-power to chase my aspirations. In my life situation, I have plentiful opportunities to improve my life and future. This movie has taught me to chase every dream and possibility with a hopeful attitude. This beautiful, inspiring film has shown me the power of true hard work through good times and bad. For all of this, "The Pursuit of Happiness" is and always will be my favorite film.
    "What Moves You" Scholarship
For the longest time, I really struggled with how I viewed my appearance and self-worth. I was constantly telling myself that I wasn't good, beautiful, or strong enough-or even deserving of good things. I was scrolling through Instagram, one day in September of last year, and came across a quote from BYU President Brigham Young that would change my life for the better. He stated that "If you have a bad thought about yourself, tell it to go to hell because that is exactly where it came from." After seeing that quote, I got an overwhelming feeling that I deserved more, I deserved better. I deserved to treat myself kindly and love myself without comparison to others. From that day forward, I decided I would make the conscious effort to treat myself more kindly with a positive image of myself. Since then I have had quite a few difficulties in life with friends and family, and loving myself has made these challenges easier to deal with. I now have confidence in myself that I can deal with hardships that come my way. I understand that I am brave enough, strong enough, and smart enough to become a pediatrician, mother, and good artist.
