Trades Make the World Go 'Round
After high school, I pursued an education in nursing. For the last four years, I have practiced as a Registered Nurse in the hospital setting. Coming off orientation as a new graduate at the beginning of a pandemic had its challenges. I worked alongside many seasoned exceptional nurses, but the loss we experienced took a toll on my mental health. After fighting the pandemic I developed a high anxiety about going to work. At this time, I decided to change jobs in hopes that it would change my attitude toward my work. I started to learn a new specialty in a birthing center. Currently, I am still working here, but I have felt like I am missing something in my career. This relit my passion for cosmetology. I decided to take a huge risk by going back to school to study cosmetology. The last 6 months I have spent in this program have been truly life-saving. I am excited to go to school every day and continue learning this new trade. Being a recipient of this scholarship would be a tremendous reassurance that I have chosen the right career path. As for myself, I recently got married in 2023. We are planning our wedding for 2024 after I graduate. My husband and I have two very handsome dogs. We have two Australian Shepherds; Remington and Jager. They are very hyperactive and are always keeping us on our toes. Remington is three years old and Jager is almost a year old. They make the best of friends. My husband and I both come from very large families. We are both one of five children. After graduating cosmetology school I plan on working in a salon to gain experience and confidence. Once I have established a loyal clientele I would like to build a salon right at home. This would be a huge stepping stone to creating a successful environment to raise our future children.
