While my passion, in general, is to work in the medical field, my specific interest is in medical imaging. Therefore, I plan to earn a Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Science and then become employed as a Radiologist’s Assistant after graduation. Academically, I am interested in learning new things in the classroom that I can apply to my career, including biology and psychology. My hope is that I can enhance patient care by assisting with patient assessment and radiological procedures and by providing expert diagnostic advice to the treating physician. During my college career, I also hope to continue my volunteer work with organizations that support feeding starving children in third world countries. I feel that I am a good candidate because in high school I developed a chronic physical illness after an accident in 2019. This injury left me unable to work and save money for college so I am in desperate need for financial aid.

Bold Turnaround Story Scholarship
I have experienced many challenges during my high school career due to my health. I missed approximately two semesters of in-person schooling due to unexplained health issues that were compounded by a traumatic brain injury. After working closely with my teachers and guidance counselor, taking some online courses, and lots of dedication and hard work, I have been able to stay caught up. My health issues are still a major part of my life that I am working to overcome. Despite still having those challenges, I am proud that I have been able to maintain steady and high grades. I also was awarded two scholastic art awards. I am very proud of these achievements.
However, it is because of the time that I spent at doctors offices that I realized I wanted to work in the medical field after high school. I realized I wanted to help people who had health problems like mine. Also because of my challenges, I am more determined to not let my obstacles get in the way of what I want to accomplish academically. I plan to achieve my goals by going to college and pursuing the medical imaging field and help people each and every day with their medical struggles.
Bold Selfless Acts Scholarship
I am committed to being selfless because as a Christian it is what we are called to do. We are called by God to serve and help others as well as serve Him. However, aside from it being important to my faith, it is important to me emotionally because doing selfless deeds for others makes me so happy. Seeing how my generosity makes the other person or people I’m helping happy, makes me burst with love and joy. I love helping people so much. It is extremely rewarding even after the deed you accomplished for someone was really difficult and taxing, it’s always worth it.
One of the selfless things I do is volunteer at a non-profit organization called Feed My Starving Children. There I spend several hours preparing food with a team of people for starving children in poor, third world countries. After we carefully measure the food and vitamins that are being made, we package them up and they are shipped over seas. Then, when the food is received, they open the packages and put them into a pot and cook them. These meals we package help feed thousands of starving children at a time. It is such a fulfilling thing to do and sometimes we get pictures back from the kids when they eat the food we prepared. I get the joy of seeing the children I am feeding, gain weight and strength to grow up big, strong, and healthy as every child should. I also get to meet new people in the process, which is always fun.

Theresa Lord Future Leader Scholarship
In my life, I have encountered many obstacles. A very prominent one is the struggle I have had with my health. This major obstacle was fundamental because it helped me realize what I wanted to pursue as a career. I realized that I wanted to help people with their health issues. It also had an immense effect on me emotionally and spiritually, as it taught me the value of strong friendships and the importance of trusting in God.
It has been four years since my unusual and unexplained symptoms started. I have experienced it all– headaches, clinically diagnosed severe anxiety disorder, strange rashes, heart palpitations, hair loss, trouble breathing, trouble swallowing, digestive issues and severe abdominal pain, fainting spells, tachycardia, convulsions, visual disturbances, balance problems and many more. All of these are unexplained by the multitude of doctors I have seen. I had begun to lose hope in ever feeling better or even understanding what was wrong and spiraled into a state of depression later that year.
To add to the complexity of my health issues, about one year after my unexplained symptoms began, I had a diving accident and suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. As a result, I missed out on a good portion of my sophomore and senior years. The effects of this injury are still very much with me today. It has affected my vision in many ways and caused severe cervical instability.
The experience with my health had an immense affect on me emotionally because I went from being a normal teenager to mostly bedridden and barely having any quality of life in a very short period of time. Today, I still cannot do the things I used to do. I am unable to hold a job, be independent, volunteer and do many other things that I love. It made me realize how important relationships are and the need for physical connectedness. It grew my relationship with my parents and grandparents because I had to lean on them for help and encouragement. I learned patience and to trust in God. I learned about the human body because I have had to do a lot of research to educate myself about my illness. I also learned that I am stronger than I ever thought possible. Above all, I learned that I want to help others, especially people who are going through the same things I have experienced.
In closing, as my health issues slowly begin to resolve through treatment and therapy, I am feeling more optimistic about my future. I learned that even as each day brings new challenges, I can choose to have a new outlook and a new sense of determination in the face of those challenges. I can take what I have learned and apply it to any future struggles in my life. With trusted friends and family by my side and with God as my anchor, I can overcome more than I ever thought possible. Winning this scholarship would allow me to pursue my dreams of helping others with their medical struggles. Because of my injury I was unable to work and save money for college and am in desperate need of financial aid.
Bold Hobbies Scholarship
I have quite a few favorite hobbies. Some of them are sewing, volleyball, and horseback riding. I also like to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children and the homeless center. Some other things I enjoy are roller skating and ice skating with friends. I also love going to the movies and traveling. I enjoy experiencing new things with the people I love. I like to golf with my boyfriend and or my brother.
Additionally, I enjoy playing games and video games with my siblings. I like spending time outside, talking walks and swimming. I collect fun things I find out in nature. I also do scrap booking and keep photo albums for fun. I like spending time relaxing in the hot tub and reading a good fiction novel. Finally, the last couple of hobbies I enjoy are organizing, drawing, painting, and cooking. I also like shopping, hunting, singing, and exercising.
Bold Joy Scholarship
So many things bring me joy. Some of them are my family, my friends, my boyfriend, volleyball, riding horses, and my cats. My younger siblings also make me very happy, they are my best friends and we always get along and have a good time. Some other activities that bring me joy are going to the movies, ice skating and roller skating, going to the beach, doing Fourth of July fireworks, going on vacation, and volunteering. I like doing these things because I usually do them with the friends and family that make me happy. Additionally, school brings me a lot of joy. I love to learn and do homework that improves my knowledge. The final thing that makes me happy is helping people. In college I want to study radiology so that I can eventually work in an environment where I can help people everyday. That would help me seek out joy for the rest of my life. In the future I also hope to seek out joy by continuing volunteering, getting married, and starting a family.

Bold Friendship Matters Scholarship
Friendship means everything to me. Having close friends in your life is very important, because they stand by your side and help you through hard times in life. A good friend can help raise your spirits when you’re down, and you can do the same for them.
Real friends are the kinds of people who end up becoming like family. These are people you never want to let go of because they are very hard to find. They are good listeners, affectionate, and caring. It is also important in friendship that both people are honest. Honesty helps a friendship be strong and reliable. A friendship is also the kind of relationship where people inspire one another, depend on one another, and believe in one another.
Every human being needs friendship. It is so important to us emotionally. It helps give people a sense of belonging, self-confidence, and happiness. Surrounding yourself with material things won’t fulfill your loneliness, but having friendships will fill that emptiness and despair with a valuable gift. Life is always better with friendships.
