Hi! My name is Hannah Berenschot. I am currently a third-year college student at Franciscan University of Steubenville. I am majoring in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Biology. I am passionate about helping others, especially children in need. I plan on becoming a counselor or psychologist for children. This plan will require lots of education and I am looking for any additional aid in paying for my schooling. I am so incredibly grateful for anything that comes my way. God bless!

Healing Self and Community Scholarship
One thing that I personally think needs to be improved within the mental health community is inclusivity and long-term care plans. My mother has suffered from severe depression that caused her to make multiple attempts on her life. After these attempts, she spent a few days in the psychiatric ward and was released, allowing her to continue the cycle of self-destruction that she has always been on. As a family, we asked for her to be able to remain in a long-term care facility but could not pay what insurance was unable to cover. The hospital was also unwilling to allow her to stay on insurance because so many other people are in need of their facility. for this reason, I believe it is necessary for there to be a long-term care facility for people like my mother who do not appear to be struggling as deeply as they truly are. There should be facilities in which people are able to receive the care they need, and the service be covered by insurance so that everyone can receive help that they need. If the amount of aid that is given to mentally handicapped individuals, the world would truly become a better place.
