    PD Instore Scholarship
As a child of Somali immigrants, I have always understood the value of education and the opportunities it can provide. Growing up, I saw how hard my parents worked to provide for our family and the sacrifices they made to give us a better life. Despite the challenges they faced, they instilled in me the importance of education and the belief that with hard work and determination, I could achieve anything I set my mind to. Being the first of my family to go to college has always been a dream of mine, but I also understand the financial burden it can place on my family. As a low-income student, I have had to work multiple jobs to support myself and pay for my education. The PD Instore Scholarship would greatly impact my life for the best as it would alleviate some of the financial stress and allow me to focus more on my studies. One of the biggest ways the PD Instore Scholarship would impact my life for the best is by allowing me to continue my education without the burden of student loan debt. Student loan debt can be a significant hindrance for many students, and it can take years to pay off. With the scholarship, I would not have to worry about the financial burden of student loans, and I could use that money for other expenses such as textbooks, transportation, and other necessities. The scholarship would also provide me with the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and internships, which are essential for building a strong resume and gaining valuable experience. Without the scholarship, I would have to work multiple jobs to support myself, and I would not have the time or energy to participate in extracurricular activities. Furthermore, the PD Instore Scholarship would give me the opportunity to give back to my community. As a Somali-American, I understand the importance of giving back to one's community, and I want to use my education to make a positive impact on my community. With the scholarship, I would have the financial resources to volunteer and participate in community service projects. Additionally, the scholarship would also provide me with the opportunity to network and make connections with other students and professionals in my field. Networking is an essential aspect of finding a job, and the scholarship would give me the opportunity to attend events, conferences, and workshops where I can meet and connect with others in my field. Lastly, the PD Instore Scholarship would also impact my life for the best by making me a role model for other Somali-American students. As the first of my family to go to college, I understand the importance of representation, and I want to be an inspiration for other Somali-American students who may feel overwhelmed by the thought of going to college. With the scholarship, I would be able to show that it is possible to achieve a higher education, and I would be able to use my experiences to help others. In conclusion, the PD Instore Scholarship would greatly impact my life for the best, especially due to being the first of my family to go to college as a child of Somali immigrants who escape to live a better life. The scholarship would alleviate some of the financial stress, allow me to participate in extracurricular activities, provide me with the opportunity to give back to my community, give me the opportunity to network, and make me a role model for other Somali-American students. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to apply for the scholarship, and I hope that I will be given the chance to make a positive impact on my life and the lives of those around me.
    STEM Opportunity Scholarship
As someone who has always been interested in science, I have always been eager to learn more and explore the world around me. However, I know that not everyone feels the same about science education. Some people may find it tedious or confusing and not see the value in learning about scientific concepts and theories. To encourage science education for myself and others like me, I believe there are a few things that would be helpful. First and foremost, it is essential to make science more accessible and engaging for students. This means presenting scientific concepts in an understandable and relatable way to everyday life. For example, instead of just learning about the different parts of a cell, teachers could use real-life examples of how cells work in the body, such as how they help repair cuts or produce energy. Another way to encourage science education is to highlight the practical applications of scientific concepts. Many people may not see the value in learning about scientific concepts if they do not understand how they can be applied in the real world. By showing students how science is used in various fields, such as medicine, engineering, and agriculture, they may be more motivated to learn and understand the concepts being taught. Additionally, providing hands-on learning opportunities can be a great way to encourage science education. This could include experiments, field trips, or even virtual simulations that allow students to engage with scientific concepts and see how they work actively. This type of learning can be more enjoyable and memorable for students and help them better understand and retain the material being taught. I would Find a role model; seeing someone passionate about science and who has achieved success in the field can be very inspiring. Consider finding a role model or mentor who can provide guidance and support as you learn about science. Finally, it is essential to foster a positive attitude towards science education. This includes teachers, educators, parents, and other role models. By demonstrating the importance and value of science and encouraging students to ask questions and seek answers, we can create a culture that values and supports science education. In conclusion, encouraging science education for myself and others like me requires making science more accessible and engaging, highlighting its practical applications, providing hands-on learning opportunities, and fostering a positive attitude toward science. By implementing these strategies, we can create a more enthusiastic and motivated generation of students excited to learn and explore the world around them.
